Entitlement and the 47%

There have been a couple of cowardly anonymous (always anonymous) commentators who have come after me regarding the above and stating that I am among the 47% of entitlement people included in Mitt Romney's statement and further stating that I am among the deadbeat dragging down the country. They do everything they can and say anything they want to make a point in favor of Obama and against Romney. They get down right personal and nasty with their snide remarks just like Obama did in the last debate. The don't like Senior citizens nor do they like themselves. They believe that "entitlements" are for everyone else but those who paid into the system. This is the latest one received yesterday:
The large majority of Medicare and Social Security recipients have paid payroll taxes, in many cases for decades. In my personal case, I paid into the system for 40 years. Seniors are not moochers. Most all of us owe nothing: no mortgage, no car payment, a credit card we pay in full monthly. We were resourceful allowing us to retire. We are responsible citizens and we vote. In the vast majority of cases, we don't go out and ask for food stamps or housing subsidizes...we find a part-time job. We pay what we are billed for in services and taxes; we live within our means and in houses we can afford. We are not bankrupting or scamming the system.
Although the government may include Social Security and Medicare as entitlements, I do not, nor do SS recipients, place themselves into this category. Seniors have paid into that system in order to draw money out of it when they retire...an annuity. There is no doubt that both of these programs must be overhauled so that they are sustainable well into the future. Mitt Romney's intention was unclear when he uttered his statement on the 47% but what he meant were those people getting something from the government for nothing and people who would rather have their hands out than work. Because of liberal socialistic government policy, we will continue to have people on welfare roles and taking advantage of America's generous and unsustainable programs.

You should understand the news better. Romney was talking about ALL 47% that don't pay taxes but have their hands out for money and free healthcare. Ryan was talking about the 30% of moochers, a category you also fall under.

- 6.4% of U.S. households had someone enrolled in Medicaid (the health-care program for low-income Americans)
- 15.8% lived in a household receiving food stamps
- 4.5% of households received assistance with their rent
- 1.7% had a member receiving unemployment benefits.

City Manager, Michael Bornstein, attended the ECR Board meeting in West Palm Beach and was recognized as the official representative of the City of Lake Worth.
According to Mr. Bornstein, the following actions were taken:

According to Mr. Bornstein, the following actions were taken:
- The City of West Palm representative made a motion to reconsider the Pelletizer which he seconded.
- Another motion was made to table the vote until the December Board meeting.
- The Board directed the attorney to send a letter to the SWA to address various issues and to provide a firm proposal which will hopefully be reviewed by the ECR Board at the November 14th meeting and will be available to the commission prior to its meeting.
- Hazen and Sawyer, the consultant on the project, was authorized to work with lake Worth on presentations and meetings required to assist the commission in determining its position for the December East Central Regional Board meeting where the reconsideration vote will occur.

Jamie, I called last week. The person that answered the phone gave me your message receiver. I have not had a return call. I called to request all pool files that you know about be made available to me. As you know, I designed the pool in 1970. One of several large pools that I designed. I quit small pool design in the early 1960’s.
I have been back to the pool. I find no evidence of a cracked beam. My intermediate conclusions are that the workmanship by the contractor who re-did the pool tile work, etc., was inferior and will need to be re-done. (My estimate for that work is $50.000. ) I do not know the extent of his contract or what professional observed the work and approved the work. Hopefully, the City’s files will contain good information.
I found nothing to support any conclusion that the pool, after 40 years, has settled. I do recommend that the City hire Dennis Painter, surveyor with A &B Engineering to take some elevations. This information will assist in the evaluation of possible settlement. I’ll be happy to select the locations for the elevations.
Let me know when and where the files will be made available to me.
The pool bathhouse was designed recognizing State regulations for public pools. I will also take a another look at the bathhouse. The steel corrosion and concrete spalling is significant.

The only benefit would be to all those in the development and real estate business, not to Joe Taxpayer or anyone who believes that our city, with its quaint downtown shops and restaurants, a look we have had for over 100 years, would be more welcoming or friendly or generate more money to the city or to the commercial businesses by building taller.

Everyone is invited to a fundraiser for the Lake Worth Library Friday, October 26, in the Cultural Plaza from 6 - 9 PM.
Admission is free. Money is raised through donations and by vendors who will be there. Rock Band Love Handles will play live on stage. There will be a mini book sale and entertainment. Buy some food and soft drinks from our vendors. I hope we see you there supporting our library! We are looking for a few volunteers to sell books at this event. Let Vicky Joslyn at the library or e-mail me if you are interested in volunteering that night.
It's Lake Worth Library's 100th Anniversary. Join in the fun and celebrate with us at a Centennial Party in the plaza on Friday night, November 16. Tickets, at $10, include food, birthday cake, entertainment and much more... All proceeds from our events, parties and book sales are used for library projects, events and children's programs.

Lies our Mothers never warned us about
Most of the media seem to lie also and the worst part of that is, the media are left and liberal and Obama supporters. They don't want to acknowledge any conservative view at least in an unbiased way. They love to focus on one gaffe and beat it to death.
The more immediate the news media, the more likely they are to lie. Think local. They have their own political agendas. Here's a hint--Suzanne Mulvehill was behind the casino rehabilitation and constructing a building that everyone had complained about for decades and ensuring it stayed at the same location it has been since 1922. Christopher McVoy was not in office when that vote was taken. Suzanne Mulvehill is not responsible for inferior products that were used to construct it no matter how politically twisted the media message.
You've heard the expression that" nice guys finish last." Well, Perkle on Politics says that the reasons politicians lie are because the public doesn't want to hear the truth. People want to hear what they want to hear. The one who says what the public wants to hear wins the election. In Lake Worth it is the high cost of electric and everyone has been screaming about it. Two candidates are running and one of them tells the truth and the other says what the public wants to hear. Thus, and there are exceptions to this, if you want to win an election, you better start lying or exaggerating because the guy who's telling you the truth doesn't have a chance. Think District 2 candidates and the PB Post's total lack of knowledge on the electric utility and its endorsement today.
Hopefully we're too smart for that in Lake Worth and Perkle on Politics is wrong even if some candidates, their supporters and the media lie to us especially about selling the electric utility with NO analysis or data of any kind, no vote from the dais to even explore it, no offer on the table from any company and using a high rate as a bogus reason why businesses are not locating here--just emotions over any common sense.
We know why politicians lie. But why does the Media lie? Answer: Because they can. They love to sound like they know what they're talking about and the rest of us need to follow.

Well, if the Palm Beach Post can't figure out who is the best candidate and refuses to take a stand on an endorsement for District 22, we will--

The Post article pretty much sums it up other than Stafford's forceful, accusatory and aggressive manner which came out in this debate. Some people like this style and they were all there last night. Obsessed with the electric utility, Stafford wants to reduce our revenues even further by having all consumers pay the exact same rate. Conservation or the idea that those who consume more should pay more is not in his radar. Selling the electric utility is his platform without one bit of knowledge of what it is worth or what we owe..."put it on the March election," he says. He does not want to wait for the new energy provider where rates are expected/could be decreased by 25%...he's not interested in making our asset better.
