The State Department has once again demonstrated government incompetence by funneling hundreds of millions of dollars in development aid to the Taliban in Afghanistan, putting American taxpayers at risk.

A recent report from the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) has revealed that at least $239 million has been channeled to terrorist groups since the chaotic military withdrawal.

Less than a year after reports of the Taliban using fake nonprofits to steal U.S. aid, a new SIGAR investigation reveals the Taliban received $239 million in U.S. development assistance.

Despite the obligation to thoroughly screen grant recipients to avoid funds benefiting terrorists, the agency disbursed grants without adequate scrutiny in at least 29 instances.
