Russian Icons – A brief introduction
On Tuesday, February 21st, 2017 at 7:00 pm at the Lake Worth Public Library will present A FREE program entitled RUSSIAN ICONS – A BRIEF INTRODUCTION. The guest speakers are Father Brian Campbell and David Rafaidus. Program is free and open to all, no registration required.
Presentation topics will include: Definition of an Icon, A Short History about Icons, Icon Composition, The Life of an Iconographer & Rules for the Icon Painter, Icon Color & Symbology, Different types of Icons, The Iconostasis, Icons in the Home, An Analysis of Several Icons and Questions & Answers
Father Brian Campbell is a priest for the Diocese of Palm Beach where he currently serves as Parochial Vicar at Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church in Royal Palm Beach. Born in central Illinois, Father's family moved to Florida when he was 7. He received a Bachelor's degree in both Philosophy and Theology from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, OH and a Masters in Divinity from Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans. Father Campbell was ordained in 2009 and has been blessed to serve in Diocesan parish and school ministry.
David Rafaidus has been interested in icons since 1980. He has traveled extensively throughout Central and Eastern Europe and Russia studying icons. David will use actual icons to present symbolism, stylistic variety, and miracles attributed to them. Additional fascinating facts will be presented.

Anyone who complains about the lack of culture in Lake Worth should try to make this event. Vickie has to be congratulated for her efforts to bring some enlightenment to our Town.
