White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre Targeted five Republicans by name as representatives of the “extreme wing” and a ‘threat to our democracy’ during Wednesday’s presser. All I can say is wow because this White House will claim anything and pull out all the stops to change the tides in November.

Her comments came while discussing President Joe Biden’s Thursday night address regarding the “soul of our nation,” and she specifically pointed to Reps. Paul Gosar (AZ), Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA), Madison Cawthorn (NC), Gov. Ron DeSantis (FL), and former President Donald Trump of carrying out “attacks on our core values as a country.”

Lawsuit filed against Judge Bruce Reinhart

Tea Party Patriots Action filed a federal complaint against the judge who approved the FBI search of former President Donald Trump’s Florida home

The lawsuit seeks to have Reinhart, a U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida judge, removed from the case or even removed from his position.

“Judge [Bruce] Reinhart has a conflict of interest and a pattern and history of hostility to President Trump,” said the filing.

The lawsuit then listed several examples including purported Facebook posts that show Reinhart had criticized Trump while praising the late Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.). Reinhart also reportedly donated to former President Barack Obama and to former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush when he was running against Trump in 2015, the lawsuit said, citing publicly available reports.

Palm Beach County School Board walked back a policy

PBC Parents Beat Back Bezos and Gates Owned Student-Athlete Data Collection Platform

After parental backlash at an August 17th school board meeting, the School District of Palm Beach County school board walked back a policy that would have required student athletes’ medical data to be submitted online through Aktivate, a digital platform connected to Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates.

The policy would have given the two billionaire’s businesses access to sensitive information about minors, sparking concerns about data privacy and security.

The new method would have eliminated paper submission of information and limited facetime. According to the Palm Beach Post, the school board became aware of the deal with Aktivate and its effects in February but did not inform parents of the change until July.

In his speech, Biden noted that he “could always tell” that the most skillful basketball was played there, because the area was ostensibly full of black people.

“There’s a place where I was the only white guy that worked as a lifeguard down in that area, on the East side. And you know, you could always tell where the best basketball in the state is,” Biden told his crowd of Democrat supporters.

Twelfth Addendum to the Law Enforcement Service Agreement (LESA)

SUMMARY:

The Addendum to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office LESA extends our law enforcement services through September 30, 2024. The cost will be $14,386,738.00 with monthly payments of $1,198,894.87 for Fiscal Year 2023 and the cost will be $14,602,539.00 with monthly payments of $1,216,878.25 in Fiscal Year 2024.

BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION:
In FY 2008, the City of Lake Worth Beach (“City”) and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (“PBSO”) entered into a contract entitled “Agreement for Law Enforcement Services by and between the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Lake Worth Beach (“LESA”) which provides for all the City’s law enforcement services. The original Agreement has been amended many times allowing for annual increases, as well as additional personnel requested by the City.

In preparation for the PBSO contract renewal consideration, staff met with PBSO officials to discuss the law enforcement services provided by PBSO. PBSO is committed to working with the City to enhance its law enforcement services for the residents that results into a positive impact on the community.

As they have gone up on their contract through 2024, will someone ask them why they won't police our panhandling laws? We will have 82 sworn deputies for Lake Worth and 6 non-sworn.
