The Misuse and Abuse of the 14th Amendment

Well, the chuckleheads are at it again with the misuse and abuse of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America.

I find it quite perplexing that this amendment to the Constitution has become the go to for any and all ideological, and political, absurdities that one can conjure. The original intention of the 14th Amendment, which the Democrats did not support, was to grant citizenship to those who had been freed from slavery, the intent of the 13th Amendment . . . which the Democrats did not support.

In recent years, we have seen the 14th Amendment’s “equal protection under the law” clause be used to justify illegal immigration birthright citizenship. I find it very humorous that we would use our rule of law to grant citizenship to the progeny of those who broke our rule of law.

We have also had the same clause used to support same-sex marriage. Huh? Yes, somehow, the 14th Amendment, Section 1 that granted citizenship to freed Blacks now extended to homosexual couples, as if they had ever been enslaved, quite absurd.
