Insolence
Condo living is not for everyone that's for sure but some of the people who live here thumb their noses at rules. Breaking rules and Florida Statutes happen with frequency these days. It happens so much that lawsuits ensue. Those who break rules honestly believe rules and regulations/laws are in place to make their lives miserable.
A few days ago a woman was looking at the unit next door to me that is for sale. She has a cat. I told her no cats allowed. She then said it was a service cat and condos needed to change their thinking and get into the 21st Century. She said she had a mental disorder. I wanted to agree with her. Why don't these people buy a house or simply live within the rules?
The owner of the classic car sold his unit in this building a few years ago. We thought we were rid of the problem. This year he decided to rent the unit he had sold and his cycle of abuse started all over again. At least he was chased off of parking on Lake Osborne Drive with his For Sale signs plastered all over his windows. He has been spotted trying to sell his car in downtown Lake Worth on our city streets.

You are the person everyone in the development complains about.
Go figure
Someone on my board I presume. Gutless wonder, posting anonymously.
The only people complaining about me are those board members who
1. don't understand or care about the rules
2. don't understand or care about the Florida statutes
3. Don't understand or want to enforce local laws.
4. Believe that rules are meant to be broken for their benefit.
I agree with you Lynn, no one wants laws and order anymore. That is why I like Pres. Trump as hi talks about restoring some. This city is the worst, we are selling out house soon and moving from this city. All these renters and lawless folks just are not appealing to us at all. Go to the beach it says no dogs, no alcohol, no surfing in swimming areas, but no one enforces anything, it is all the opposite of what it says to do, dogs galore all over the beach. Where are the cops? Right on red after stop law is so abused, no one even stops, they hardly yield and just think it is their right, when it says no right on red, they do it anyway, go to Lucerne Ave and Dixie Hwy, every day the city could make millions if they enforced this one. Look at bikers, they never follow any rules of the road here, biking against one way streets, on sidewalks, all over, I almost hit one the other day as they just never follow any rules of the road like they are supposed to. The guy that rents next to me never mows his lawn, it is like 2feet high overgrown mess, looks like hell, no one cares and no one wants rules or order or to enforce anything. They are all above the law! They all need our prayers Lynn. God bless you for caring!
A service cat? Now I've seen everything. Every complex you see that is clean, quiet and well run is that way because of the rules. The trainwrecks are full of vermin who don't have values and pride of ownership.
If I had a nickel for every cat in every condo that doesn't allow cats, I'd be a billionaire. A cat is just as important to the well-being of his owner, as a dog is, and while it is not a service animal, no decent human being would get rid of any pet to live in a condo. Also, a cat can be registered as an emotional support animal, and the condo would waste a lot of money trying to get rid of the animal. These cases can go all the way to the Supreme Court. Allowing animals in HOA's increases the marketability for a unit. The more things you don't allow, the less the place is worth. People of means don't go begging for a place to live with their pet.
In your opinion it would increase the marketability of a unit here. It's all about you. There are other owners here.
And no one said that the condo would challenge a service animal...that would never happen. Even this board is not that stupid.
I don't live there, you can do what you want. When a person looks at a listing sheet, and it says no pets, that segment of the market that has a pet turns to another listing. The ratio of people looking for listings with pets vs the people looking for a unit where you can't have pets is clear cut. How many people say, for instance, Oh, I couldn't live there, they allow pets. Not very many. Just look at the statistics on the number of people in the US who have pets.
We fought a "service animal" and won. The whole thing was a sham and everyone knew it. "Registration" means nothing. A service animal is one well trained to aid a true disabled person. Not some fluff carried everywhere. How sad to see people putting dogs in baby strollers and sitting next to them in restaurants.
7:05- You're the piece of stupid filth that makes ghettos out of everywhere in south Florida. Not every condo wants the problems that come with uncaring pet owners, commercial truck drivers, parents that don't /can't /or won't control their kids,Sub-lets and subleases and every unwashed under 30 something who invites 15 of their closest non-working friends to move in with them. Why move into a place that has rules in place that you can't live with? You may not agree with the laws, but the law really doesn't care what you think. It's the law. And rules are allowed under the law.Even if you don't think that they are "fair". You're not that special and you're not above the law.So you and your service cockroach need to move along to a crap hole that understands and accepts people like you.The rest of us are glad you don't live around us.
I think the point here is that people, no matter where they eventually buy, should follow the rules. They should be given a copy of the rules before they sign a contract.
Now, the problem lies when you have a change of a condo or and HOA board that CHANGES or IGNORES the rules to suit themselves.
That happens here.
People buy into a condominium because of rules, not for the lack of them. Right now, this community is going downhill because of boards that don't know their documents and won't enforce what they have.
It used to be a great place out here.
I'm sorry to hear that. The class of people who move to Florida these days could ruin anything. It's true that once the rules are breached, it makes it more difficult to enforce them due to a provision in the law called "Selective Enforcement." My guess is that it isn't the cats bringing down the value of your complex. This hatred of animals in some of your respondents is troubling. I know you do a lot of work on this blog, and I am not trying to bust your shoes.
It is not that people hate animals. I love them and have had them all my life, but I want to travel now more and live in a condo that doesn't allow pets and being away and traveling is not conducive to this now, I want rules and a place where there are no pets pooping and peeing all over and where I can come and go without worry of taking care of pets during my travels. I think people need to stop all this craziness, if you buy into a place that has those rules, then you did it for a reason, I want a place that has rules and order and prefer 55+ and no pets or kids, it doesn't make me hate pets or kids or anything, in my elder years I want a place like this without hating anyone. Your logic is flawed above.
Excuses begone!
The lady and her family who come with their white lab Sunny ever morning and park in Krueseler Park at the end of the parking in their red Range Rover by the condo and don't pay for parking and then back in and take their dog walking on the beach walking right by a sign that says, "NO DOGS" in big letter and on the green sign from the Town of Palm Beach it says "No Animals." the blond lady comes everyday, she could care less about the rules and brings her dog at 8am-ish daily sometimes with her husband(dark skinned Latino looking man) and even with her 10 year old ish daughter when there is not school, they walk freely on the beach daily, could care less about the sign and no dogs on the beach here. They don't care! Rules are for everyone else except for them. They act as if they are above the rules and laws! This is the type of people we have here today. No consideration for others or the laws! This is what I am fed up with!
I agree with you Lynn, if you do not like the rules to that condo association, don't buy into it. period!
I don't like the lawlessness anymore in Lake Worth, that is why I am moving out and buying elsewhere!
No one really hates animals or animal lovers just the entitled pet parents who want to foist their agenda on every place. Have a pet? Be responsible and discreet.
Relax, you are going to have a heart attack. LOL
Why don't you go into an assisted living facility 1:54. You had pets all your life, but now you want to travel, so nobody else should have them. I can't think of anyplace that has been built in the last 10 years that doesn't take pets. If you don't take care of your pets, you probably won't take care of your condo either. Make sure you travel to a place that doesn't have pets. You sound like a smug, self-satisfied imbecile. Don't worry, whatever condo you move to you will have plenty of company.
@4:56. You are a real piece of work. The point here is FOLLOW THE DAMN RULES, THE FLORIDA STATUTES, LOCAL AND STATE LAWS.
Not asking too much here. There are plenty of condos that don't allow pets. Where have you been? Living in a cage?
Name ten condos built in the last 10 years that don't allow pets!
I haven't read their documents, have you? And who really gives a cr*P about it. It's about rules. God, nothing worse than a retarded person who likes to argue.
At the Lucerne, dogs were allowed to run free in the halls and there was so much poop the management had to ask dog "parents" to submit a DNA sample for their furchild so the miscreants could be fined for the clean-up. It was too much for them to leash their pet and wind their way outside for a proper walk. This is the worst case of what can happen when a building has an open pet policy. Sure, the investors sell and rent easily but the responsible pet owners and the pet-free must put up with the mess.
4:56PM sounds like the smug self centered imbecile here! Most condos on Palm Beach and South Palm Beach and Ocean Ridge do not allow pets. Many places don't allow them. I agree, if you prefer to live in a nonpet environment and those are the rules and that is what you want, it is the rule and it works for you. Not everyone wants to have pets or live among them. Stop trying to make it out like people who want to live in a nonpet condo are bad people, it has no logic whatsoever! How dare you judge us! Follow the rules and laws of where you live!
I want to know what message are the parents at 2:01PM sending to their young daughter who can read "No Dogs" When they go to the beach and bring Sunny their dog with them? I wouldn't be surprised if this little girl grows up to think rules and laws are OK to be broken and avoided and then end up in jail someday!
No one wants any laws or order today. This is the bigger problem with our society.
Then you wonder why people want to go live in their little bubble on Palm Beach, Wellington, or some gated community.
Lol! Sad!
For 6.16-The key word in your post is responsible. If a person is responsible in one area, they are usually responsible in other areas. In some it is a case of maturity, and others just have no breeding. What about the people who have charcoal and gas grills and won't get rid of them even after the Fire Marshall says they have to go, and the Insurance Inspector drops the coverage. Florida is the Wild West.
