LED Lights - Lake Worth

Tomorrow night the mayor of Lake Worth, Pam Triolo, is having a ceremony at 5:30pm for the LED lights that were recently installed in the city--4,000 of them. They tell us that it will save us $250,000 a year but I'll believe it when I see it. This is all political propaganda...making a big deal out of spending money to save money, or so they tell us.

The new lights are costing $3 million! Other small fortunes are being spent on solar panels ($5.5 mil) placed on our landfill for 2% of power, and $13 mil for smart meters through Siemens.

We seldom ever get costs on anything from city hall and they are extremely secretive about the recent mailer they sent out on the general obligation bond.  Not only did they send it out once, they sent it out a week later with taxpayer money. Michael Bornstein will not, even with a public information request, reveal how many they sent and the total cost of the mailer.

Although this video is on internal light bulb use, it is pertinent as a study that was published in late 2010 in the journal Environmental Science and Technology found that LEDs contain lead, arsenic and a dozen other potentially dangerous substances.
