Serge Jerome Endorsements

Comment Up

Today I got a mailer from Serge Jerome.  At the top of the mailer is the statement:

That is my problem.

He then posts his local endorsements:

No one I know trusts any of these people and that is why we need to re-elect Commissioner Christopher McVoy, a commissioner who has proven to be trustworthy and represents all of the people he serves. He will not be a rubber stamp, says the Palm Beach Post.

All of these people who endorsed Jerome went against the Heights Amendment (not to mention many other issues) that was won by 56% of the voters.  Doesn't Serge Jerome care about what the residents think? Did he EVER ask you? Greg Rice even had a PAC, Friends of the Gulfstream, that launched an illegal banner at the Gulfstream Hotel, pulling every trick in the book to win that election and all of them listed above still lost.

It really IS about who you can trust!

You can tell a lot about the charter of a man by the company he keeps.I'll be voting for Mcvoy.

Sorry anon, I personally am sick and tired of being lectured to about Sea Level Rise every other meeting, and also tired of someone who obviously never has time to read the back up material. And yes Lynn I expect you to come back with how many pages there MIGHT be on any given meeting. Serge has might vote, itis time for change, and fresh blood.

Well, you certainly do exaggerate, anonymous at 7:19. Szerdi also has talked about sea level rise. Does that count with you?
What we need is someone we can trust...that's McVoy and Serge knows it.

I'm sad that such a nice guy is hanging with such a bad crowd.

So you figure If you vote for Serge the sea level wil stop rising ? Amazing !! And brilliant. I did not see that on his platform.

No anon I don't think it will stop rising, but I will not have to have a constant lecture about. I also do not think that Lake Worth needs another College, Technical or otherwise. It may not be ours but we do have the state college real close. One of the reasons I will be voting for Szerdi.

There is NO "constant lecture" about sea level rising. Stop the exaggeration. The only solution Szerdi has given or has gone a long with is to raise heights, grab cash, expand the beach and tax the people. LW does not have a college here and a technical school would/could be an asset. PB Community is County. And incidentally, this city gives them a BIG break on their electric rate, paying less than any Lake Wroth business around. Why is that, anonymous?

It was just an idea, off the cuff, and the only person who answered the question.

You forgot that Dirty Szerdi was also for the destruction of a public park,John Prince Park,so that billionaires would benefit .

Here's my problem with McVoy and why I won't be voting for him again. Sure, he gives a lot of speeches about protecting the environment and sea level rise, all of which I am a believer in. However, he hasn't done a single thing to actually promote his concerns. I've never seen McVoy present any ideas of solutions. He has pushed for a city wide ban on plastic bags, or an ordinance to force local businesses to use recycled take out materials, or any urban farming ordinances. In fact, I can't recall anything that he's actually proposed, instead he just opposed everything. He's not a positive person with positive ideas, he has just turned into that guy that disagrees with everything for the sake of doing so. He wants to be the victim on the dias. I've never even seen him at one single neighborhood cleanup, haven't seen him at the earth day festival, the tree festival, the street painting festival, I never see him anywhere except in the meetings. I may not agree with all the other commissioners ideas, but at least they are out and about representing and living in their city. McVoy just hides in his cave, crawling out only to make it to the meeting. If he had at least tried to make some proposals for the betterment of lw, he would have my vote again, but he's been elected for 2 terms now and hasn't really done anything except disagree with everything. Sorry, but this time I'm looking for some fresh ideas and voting for Mr. Jerome.

First of all, McVoy is a scientist and actually works for a living that takes him out of the area most of the time. His job is not just 9 to 5, Monday through Friday. I can't remember when he has missed a commission meeting and that's the job we elect him to do. I have never seen Serge helping out or ever attending a commission meeting until he decided to run for office, Szerdi either for that matter.

I am sorry you feel he hasn't done anything for Lake Worth. He has agreed with my point of view on the beach, on the vote of the people to keep our downtown at 45 feet max; not supporting the money grab with no details and no cap; he 100% believes in open government and transparency, something we have NOT had with this commission; he does not believe in the "free lunch; believes in getting our abandoned properties cleaned up and code enforcement tackling the worst first, not targeting the churches as an example just for revenue.

I like him because I know, without any doubt in this world, that he will have the interests of the people first, not himself or his friends. As far as being the lone vote out on the dais, that is about 1/2 of 1 percent of the time and it was the most important issues that affect our city. He is a person with high moral character, a rarity in politics today.
