Have you ever heard of a "gang bang?" Perhaps a kinder term would be "strength in numbers." But these commissioners are trying to get grant money to fix our roads and are doing everything within their power to do just that.
Vice Mayor Scott Maxwell was asked this question by one of his constituents...why were these commission meetings cancelled right before the March election? His method of operation is to forward the e-mail inquiry on to someone else to answer. In that way, nothing he says is in writing and he can't be held accountable for the explanation and he can't be challenged. The burden has been transferred.

The above poses the question, how many lawyers does it take to screw in a light bulb? Originally it was four commissioners along with the city manager driving in the same car to Tallahassee. And we're to assume that they won't be talking about city business during that long drive in some rented van? Last night it was stated that Christopher McVoy will fly to Tallahassee and Mayor Triolo will be taking her own car. And what happened to Richard Pinsky, our Tallahassee lobbyist?
Registration to attend the event, where you might possibly rub shoulders with your state legislator with a remote chance of getting a grant (as these guys will be talking to hundreds of people), ends today, February 18. The fee is $125 per person with a minimum hotel stay of two nights at $179 a night at The Aloft or $204 a night at the DoubleTree. Palm Beach County Day in Tallahassee begins with registration late in the day on March 3 or from 7:30 to 10:00am on March 4.

We continue to get the political bull from one commissioner in particular, that the rental rates that Affordable Housing Solutions is charging for the Villages of Lake Worth a/k/a/ the "project" at Lake Worth Road and Boutwell is NOT affordable housing at all but "workforce" housing and it is at market rate. The city continues to try and fool you saying that there is a difference in 'affordable" and "workforce" housing. The Vice Mayor will even ask for confirmation on the distinction from the city manager, to get it on the record. We all know it is one and the same. And at every commission meeting, there is always one commissioner who will tell us how beautiful this all looks. And they are building more.

Parking Restrictions during the Lake Worth Street Painting Festival
The Annual Street Painting Festival will be taking place in the downtown area in the City of Lake Worth. The festival will be taking place on

To assure a safe and successful Festival your cooperation in this matter is urged. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office may tow vehicles left parked on the street in violation of this temporary order. The Lake Worth (Robert Harris) Bridge will remain open during the Festival. There will be detour signs in place to direct vehicle traffic to access Lake Worth Bridge. Anyone wanting access to the bridge from the south end will be detoured at 2nd Ave South then east bound to the bridge and anyone wanting access to the bridge from the north end will be detoured to 2nd Ave North then east bound to the bridge.

The city wants to tax you. It is still coming after each and every property owner in Lake Worth for a general obligation bond that this time they believe will pass for roads infrastructure. They can't stand the word "no" and they won't stop until they get the cash. There are some who don't mind being taxed for decades and are happy to bear the burden.
The city also wants to place liens on your property regarding utility service and be able to take your property for non-payment.
Sec. 18-2. Lien of utility service charges.
(a)The city will have liens on all lands or premises served by its water system, sewer system, stormwater system, solid waste system and electric system for all service charges for such services and facilities until paid which liens shall be prior to all other liens on such lands or premises except the lien of state, county and municipal taxes and shall be on a parity with the lien of such state, county and municipal taxes. Such liens, when delinquent for more than thirty (30) days, may be foreclosed by the city in the manner provided by the Laws of Florida for the foreclosure of mortgages on real property.
b) A lien established by this section shall be released by the Mayor upon the payment of the service charges and the recommendation of the applicable department director or his or her designee. The release of lien shall be in written form and executed by the Mayor or designee and City Clerk.
(c) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (a) above, the city shall not have a lien on rental properties or rental units when prohibited by section 180.135, Florida Statutes

His vision is to increase the tax base and not depend on the utility so much. He wants to tax you for roads and not honor the vote of the people. Ryan Maier was on top of his "game" and was the best of the bunch.

The Publix Sabor in the Town and Country Shopping Plaza at 1910 Lake Worth Road closed the day after Christmas.
Now Radio Shack has filed Chapter 11 and is closing. Sprint and Standard General a hedge fund agreed to buy 1,500 to 2,400 of RadioShack’s 4,000 company-owned stores in the United States. Sprint is expected to run special “store within a store” departments in up to 1,750 of those stores. This brings to mind that any corporation in these times is not safe from bankruptcy--John Szerdi brought up the fact that Siemens has been around for 169 years suggesting their stability as one good reason for doing business with them. Don't let them "lift" your wallet and abuse their power

I have to wonder why people don't feel someone lifting their wallet. But often times, these are professional pickpockets who steal without you noticing or feeling a thing.
In city government, that has a responsibility to watch the purse strings, it happens all of the time. Most of us don't notice a thing until it hits us in the wallet. Commissions make bad policy decisions and they hide the details on long and short term debt. They pack high cost items on the Consent agenda with no discussion. Their excuse is that you voted them into office and therefore you need to vote them out if you're not happy with what they're doing. We hear that all of the time. They go along with what staff wants, not necessarily what we the people need or can afford. It is the "electeds" excuse for doing what they want (bad government) and they more or less are telling you to "go stick it where the sun don't shine" if you disagree.
On March 10, let's tell them that we need to retain an honest commissioner, Chris McVoy and vote in a new one, Ryan Maier and maintain a budget that makes sense for all of us. When you have elected officials that includes a sitting commissioner running for re-election who will not honor the vote of the people, then you have despotic abuse of power.

Just ask a Texan, he will tell you--Don't mess with Texas.
With an estimated population of 26,956,958, the second most populated state in the country, Texas has been an economic powerhouse since the turn of the 20th century and after its discovery of vast oil reserves. It is ranked number 1 in economic performance. Many industries have a large presence in the state. Read about them. Energy continues to be a large and important part of Texas' economy.
Wikipedia says: The economy of Texas is one of the largest economies in the United States. As of 2013, Texas is home to six of the top 50 companies on the Fortune 500 list and 51 overall, (third most after New York and California). In 2012, Texas grossed more than $264.7 billion a year in exports—more than exports of California ($161.9 billion) and New York ($81.4 billion) combined. As a sovereign country (in 2012), Texas would be the 14th largest economy in the world by GDP (ahead of South Korea and the Netherlands.
- Texas had a 3.3% increase in nonfarm payroll jobs
- The working age population grew by 1.3%

So what's with Alcee Hastings who referred to Texas as “crazy” and said that Florida was “in many respects, coming close to being just as crazy.” He served as a Judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida from 1979 until his impeachment and removal from that post in 1989. He is one of only eight federal officials in American history to be impeached and removed from office. Now I would say, that's pretty damn crazy.
Potentially ineligible Lake Worth voters
Only four people in Lake Worth have been outed for removal of their names as potentially ineligible voters? I would think that there are a whole lot more than four in this heavily transient rental city of Lake Worth.
