Lake Worth, Florida- The Lake Worth Municipal Pool will be closed until further notice.
The pool, built in 1971, has been suffering from rapidly deteriorating conditions including;
• Pieces of the pump room ceiling falling on employees.
• Pressurized water lines exploding.
• Failure of the drives that control the motors thus leading to damaging vibrations.
“Due to these conditions, and others, the city has determined that the continued operation of the pool is putting City employees at risk and opening the City to liability, as such we have no choice but to close the pool until further notice. A consultant hired by the City will be providing a complete assessment of the pool, pump house and pool buildings on Tuesday, February 21st.”

Extensive repairs need to be made in the Pump House. No one knows how long the pool will be closed or how much the repairs will be.
They spent 500,000 less than 10 years ago. Perhaps someone can ask Sen. Jeff Clemens what happened.He was Mayor at the time. WTF! The pool was closed for Christmas break,now right on time for Spring break,NO POOL! Mayor Triolo Commissioner Scott Maxwell Commissioner Andy Amoroso and city staff Mike Bornstein and Willaim Waters are behind this latest lie. Scott Maxwell wants the pool torn down.Katie Mcgiveron needs to run against Maxwell and grind him into the dirt.
Cannot comment on the pump house, however,I was there 2 weeks ago and I must say there are some serious health concerns. The women's bathroom was horrifying. Cockroaches were crawling out of some old pipes sticking out of the wall and the smell of raw sewage was overwhelming.
when is this city going to get something done right.its a fact Maxwell wants the pool gone.makes you wonder if Hudson is behind it.hes been to quiet to long
Well, I hope the health department has been called in on this, it sounds dire.
Can the City Manager oversee a quick rehabilitation of the problems or does he want to make it seem to complicated to solve?
His actions or inaction will show his desire lack thereof to rehab this glorious asset.
Many pool problems are very serious indeed. Regular maintenance, (which is required by law) is not a panacea. Nobody knows when a pool pump is going to go south, or a hose is going to break or it springs a leak. Now, as far as the roaches and parts of the ceiling falling down, I can't comment.
