Everyone got the first campaign mailer of this election cycle by the mayor where she bragged about lowering electric rates by 40.7%. Don't know where that figure came from but fuel charges are up and no one with whom I speak sees any difference in their bill. In fact, some are still complaining about how high their electric is. But what about the water?
Here's a business owner in our downtown who is in shock! She posted this on Facebook.

That was due to a water bill, if you read the entire thread and not electric. And more than likely due to a leak...ok on to the next conspiracy.
No conspiracy--just read what I wrote--
Are you people going to elect the same people who let this happen to you?
Sound like leak, but business owners also need to check their hose bib outside of their businesses...we put a lock on ours after we found the vagrants stealing our water. We also had to put locking caps on the electric sockets outside because we found druggies hanging out at night plugging in their iPads and iPhones and stealing our electric too. I now see Natures Way put up a scissor gate to keep them out of their alcove and using their power. Good for them, dirty thieves.
Still better have a professional check for a leak, and then approach the city...they have negotiated before. Good luck.
My tenant received a $1200 bill once, it was misread even though city is supposed to have system to catch crazy bills and those bills are supposed to be reread before bill goes out to customer. That didn't happen and City wanted to charge my tenant $50 to reread. Luckily a helpful past commissioner got them to go out and reread and it was a mistake and was corrected
Besides mistakes we do have a serious homeless problem that the elected officials like to ignore so clearly double check any outside outlets or hose connections. Not related to homelessness but just quirky lake worth, we had to cap our outdoor hose connection when we lived in Bryant Park, the folks who use the boat ramp thought it was perfectly ok to use our hose to hose of their boats.
Well maybe the new elect/water meters will make a difference. Yea right
