Marco Rubio was running high in the beginning of this year. He has now fallen 17 points in the polls. What did him in? Immigration and the perception that he wants all illegals to become citizens and that we should open up our borders.
What Marco Rubio says on amnesty:
How many people get amnesty?
Zero. No one gets amnesty. Unless we continue to do nothing, this
bill will eliminate today’s status quo de facto amnesty in which we have
11 million undocumented immigrants here and don’t know who they are,
what activities they’re engaged in or anything else about them. On day
one, no undocumented immigrant is rewarded with anything. What happens
on day one is the clock starts running on meeting the mandatory security
triggers – implementing an effective border security plan, mandatory
employment verification for all businesses, and full implementation of
an exit system. Once the border security plan is in place, undocumented
immigrants will be able to come forward, must submit to and pass
background checks, be fingerprinted, pay fines, pay taxes, prove gainful
employment, go to the back of the line, and prove they’ve had a
physical presence in the U.S. since before 2012, among other measures.
They won’t get any federal benefits. And if they meet all these
requirements, they will earn a temporary status that allows them to
work. If they don’t they will be deported.

Sidewalk Cafe Permit - Lake Worth
Comment Up
It is unlawful for any person to conduct, solicit or attempt to solicit business or business, or exhibit for sale, offer for sale, deliver, or sell any service, goods, ware and/or merchandise from, in, and/or on any vehicular right of way, pedestrian right of way, public parking lot, or other public property in the city with some exceptions.
The downtown restaurants and those using the sidewalk say they will only use that area that is part of their lease or what they own that is not city property or property owned by FDOT and therefore don't need to get a new license.
Per William Waters, "The pavers in question, for the most part, are on Florida Department of Transportation Right of Way. As such the pavers are theirs (FDOT); however, the pavers do extend onto private property in many cases. As long as those businesses can document that their activities are taking place only on private property, they indeed do not need a sidewalk café permit. From the complaints that we have heard and received, activities are taking place on public right of way on the weekends and later in the evening. If the businesses undertake activities on the right of way without an appropriate permit, they will be cited."

Legal issues City of Lake Worth
On January 7, there are two legal cases that will be discussed behind closed doors. These are just two of many. The city picks and chooses those they like to "settle." The greater the risk of losing, the more likely the settlement. The city attorney, Glen Torcivia, gives most cases a 50/50 chance of winning. The city couldn't see straight when it came to the flim flam man. In the end, the residents lose. The only case that was and still is dirty politics, is the height amendment. They wouldn't think of rolling over on that one--too political.
Joseph Viera vs. the City of Lake Worth
Viera v CLW
Louis P. Pfeffer, Esq.
Two work related accidents. Discovery pending. An impass was declared at the court ordered mediation. The parties are in the discovery stage of the case.
Street Outdoor LLC
These are the bums who put up the outdoor billboards and threatened suit if we did not comply. This is a contract/breach dispute. Nothing surprising about that. They ran all over us from inception and now we are allotting the "settlement" money, or I should say, what's left of it, for the Park of Commerce dream of this commission, a commission that actually wants development so much that it doesn't care if it puts the city into a long-term big debt to do it. It believes we should pay for developer infrastructure. But I divert--Street Outdoor LLC needs to be run out of town.

Someone ask the owners of 15 N 'O' Street if they were behind the downtown planter painting. And this is in the historical district!

If you recall, the owners asked to put up a 6 foot high fence around their property because people were walking across their yard. There is barely a set-back on Lucerne.

Genesis Neighborhood Association will paint home of lucky winner
Comment Up
2014 will be our best year so far in the five years of organized community improvement efforts and activities. We have partnered with Signature Excelerated HealthCare to provide a home painting for a lucky 55+ home owner senior in our community. He or she must own and live in their home and the home must be located within the Genesis Neighborhood Association boundaries which are between I95 to Dixie Highway and between 6th Avenue South and 12th Avenue South. They may submit a request for consideration via email genesislakeworth@comcast.net or send a message through our Facebook Page link https://www.facebook.com/pages/Genesis-Neighborhood-Association-Inc/326429454078243#" Genesis Neighborhood Association, Inc.
You may also call me, Mark A. Parrilla, President of Genesis Neighborhood Association @ 561.201.2851 and verbally submit your request. The last day to submit a request will be January 31, 2014. We will ask Mayor Pam Triolo to extract a name at the February 2014 Commission Meeting, if that name meets the eligibility requirements we will contact the homeowner to schedule the free painting of their home. Signature has volunteered to purchase the paint (colors the owner shall be allowed to choose) and will be providing their staff as volunteers, along with myself, to paint the lucky winners home.

This is
how we wanted to start the 2014 New Year sending the message to our residents
and members that we are still going strong as a neighborhood association and
that our priority for 2014 is to better service our senior and children
community. We have had our Letter of Intent
and Grant Application accepted for the "2014 America's Next Top
Neighborhood Grant" where we have
applied for funds for a "Genesis Children's Community Park" within
our boundaries. Stay tuned!

As PBSO District 14 was having its Christmas party at the Lake Worth beach this morning, it was reported that some guy called them to tell them he was about to commit suicide. He didn't. We will update as details surface.

More Art? in the Lake Worth Art District

I honestly would like to see the CRA concentrate on slum and blight within the district they control (which is vast) within the City of Lake Worth. They spend millions building affordable houses to attract more people living in the blighted areas or creating new ones, ignoring the slum and blight and the crime it all breeds.

This graffiti is on South H Street and 1st Avenue South.
Can the city make them do these things first before handing over city owned buildings to them for art?
If they can't take care of the basics, then they don't deserve our historical City Hall Annex, the Shuffleboard Court building or any other building within our city. We have so much art in our downtown that I don't see where any of them can make any money.
But the "visionaries" ran with the concept
and we all had absolutely nothing to say about it.
It's a good thing that we get to vote on some of their ideas. Oops, that's right...we did vote this year and you remember how that went.

An excerpt from an e-mail I just received about a woman on Snowden Drive and the burglars:
...burglars broke in through the back and took ALL gifts under the tree ALL her jewelry and several hunting rifles her husband uses. My dad said over 20k dollars! My dad spoke to me about cars 'stalking' the victims homes by parking across the street in Lake Osborne.
After leaving my dads house we went to our house about 7:30pm. As you know we live west of high ridge on Lk Osborne. Lo and behold there was a gray Toyota right in front of our house! We knew the people were in the car for the lights flashed. Tag N447YG, we parked behind it for i did not want to go into the house and be seen; just a women and child entering a dark house. We also noticed it had a dent in the truck left of the Toyota emblem.
..........................
This woman went on to say that she will take special notice of cars parked on Lake Osborne Drive with occupants who might be casing property, always a good thing to do. Although I have called the Sheriff on a few occasions now, they say they can't do anything. The park closes from dusk to dawn and people are parking out there way after dusk, sometimes throughout the night or parking their vehicle all day with a For Sale sign. Some deputies don't even know park rules and others don't even know that where they park on the side of the road is county park property.
This guy below knows how to play the system. He has one car out there with two For Sale signs on it that are placed away from the street. The other car has no signs but both cars are for sale. When the sheriff drives by, he misses the For Sale signs altogether...you don't really notice them from the road. Now if this guy had signs on both cars, he would be told to "move on" and be ticketed for a running a business illegally, so said a deputy. In my opinion, he is doing that anyway even with one car in the mix and should not be using our city streets or county roads for a business without a proper license or permit.
I do not want my community becoming a used car depot. This is the same guy who parked his car on Lake Avenue for a day.
