Last night WPEC Channel 12 was at our city commission meeting for the General Obligation Bond issue that was on the Consent Agenda. Who alerted them is the mystery as even PBSO was told of a possible demonstration that never happened.
The mayor ignored Commissioner McVoy and refused to allow him to pull the item for discussion, and once again, he was shut down and bullied right along with the city property owners who will be paying for it all.
As said last night, we all want our roads fixed; we just want input and we want to know the details--what it will really cost when it is all said and done in 30 years and all pertinent details. This general obligation bond is not the same one of two years ago. The people have the right to express opinions and get answers. After all, it is their money. Commissioner McVoy was the only dissenter.

We declared our independence from England because of taxation without representation.
We called it tyranny and the Mayor and Commissions' refusal to hear any dissent shows their tyrannical stance in their offices.
Vote AGAINST this new money grab.
In a noticed meeting, if McVoy made a motion to pull the item from the agenda and he had a second, presumably Maier, he could have pushed the issue. There is no such thing as "bullying" in Roberts Rules. If he had known what he was doing, he could have asked the city attorney for guidance.
I support the bond and have stated here but I assume they didn't wish the beatings from you to continue. It could have been pulled.

We need to get this on the ballot for November. Our roads need to be fixed. Quit your Bitchin and let this go forward. The longer you people wait the more expensive it gets. And the more decay and potholes you will get.
How f-ing hard is this to understand.
You have had over 50 meetings the last two- three years about all of the details. What are you wanting? A detailed list of each and foot of each every street when and where exactly it's going to be done? That's not going to happen, roads have now been tested and prioritize as to their need of repair.
It's time to suck it up, and put your money where your mouth is, VOTE YES FOR THE BOND TO REPAIR THE ROADS!!'

lets get this straight last time they asked for 60 mill---but that wasn't enough they said to do everything---so now 40 mill---so what areas are they going to ignore ??????somebody answer that please????
I would love to see our roads fixed and would pay more, if reasonable, to do so. However, the fact that the majority folks will not allow open and honest discussion (and are lying in the press about what it will cost homeowners) speak volumes. They don't want discussion b/c they know if will hurt them.

Stop wasting tax money on trying to push agendas through. Don't waste tax money to pay interest on loans. Set aside tax money as it comes in and repair or replace roads when there is enough money to do so. After many years, enough money is accumulated to operate in the black and there is a safety net. Common sense.

I agree with dennis v that's how most of us do things around home.how much is going to be put to a slush fund and how much to park of commerce.it seems like scott said a year ago that these roads haven't been talked about for 100 years then how did they come up with 50 meetings [lots of behind closed doors]
We want our roads fixed. But at what cost?? If we're giving up 40,000,000 give us some damn details! What % of our roads will this bond fix? The last bond only fixed 30% of our roads. Maybe. Do the Commissioners still get their private slush funds? How much of this bond is going to the park of Commerce? This will cost some residents an extra 2,000 per year,not the bogus 100 dollar amount Bornstein threw out.
