Palm Beach Shooting Center

Comment Up

Palm Beach Shooting Center is located on Industrial Street in Lake Worth. It has classes for all levels from the complete beginner or someone looking to learn how to defend himself to the shooting expert.

Monday night a group of family and friends went to the Palm Beach Shooting Center to take a course for a concealed weapons license. Crime is escalating in our country and in Lake Worth it's out of control. Recently in my community a criminal entered an elderly woman's condo while she was sitting on her couch.  The door was locked but he still managed to get inside. If she had a gun, she would have been justified in the kill.

We were there for a Concealed Weapons License. This is a basic course that covers, firearms safety, your legal responsibility and Florida law requirements. One topic it touched upon was Stand Your Ground, the very controversial law in the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin case.  If you recall, Zimmerman fatally shot Martin in Sanford, Florida and the following year, he was acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter. The instructor said that Florida had the best gun laws in the country.

We have always had racial tensions but they have been worse under Obama. I believe it was the Zimmerman case that started the escalation of the violence towards authority and whites today. The Department of Justice hounded Zimmerman for three years. They investigated him on civil rights charges and concluded there was insufficient evidence and there was no "hate crime."

Zimmerman criticized the government and President Obama. He believed Obama inflamed racial tensions. "He by far overstretched, overreached, even broke the law in certain aspects to where you have an innocent American being prosecuted by the federal government," Zimmerman said. Source:  Wikipedia. “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon,” Obama said.

I already have mine Lynn, Glock 42... what are you gonna pack?

A bunch of scared old ladies packing guns and using Dirty Harry phrases like "justified kill".

What could possibly go wrong?

Hopefully, we would shoot straight and get the bad guy. Stay clear.

Better put in some range time...

Often those without adequate training under stressful situations have their hand guns taken from them by the bad guys and used upon them...

Just saying, it ain't all about going to a nice range, under a controlled environment, to send lead down field to paper targets.

All that big bad talk of 'justified kills' and 'ill just shoot the intruder' or "I'll stand my ground" is BS, and every firearms instructor worth their salt will say so... Until that terrifying moment when you actually have to make the decision to pull the trigger that might kill someone, you literally have no way of knowing what you will do.

A better suggestion is to take up martial arts... Lethal hands go everywhere with you, you don't need a license and you can't shoot yourself in the ass!

What a stupid, piggish comment above. I smell fear. Men don't like women having guns as it immediately evens the playing field. Guns are the great equalizer.

An 80 year old woman with a gun beats a black belt in anything every time.

Only if she can see the bad guy, has the reflexes of a cat to draw her weapon from her belly band, level the weapon and in that split 2 seconds of time, actually discern if the threat posed is lethal or not.

Hmmm... Better practice a lot! I'd also get a big dog that can protect you, at least the barking will wake you up, distract the bad guys while it buys you time to call 911 and load up the old pistol.

Fear sells... And that is why the gun industry is doing so well
