Above photo was taken at a local debate back in February 2010 on Amendment 4, Florida Hometown Democracy. Mr. Levy was debating Katie McGiveron. In the background are former Lake Worth residents, Donna Ross and Tom McGow.
Amendment 4 got 1,681,393 votes state wide but lost the election to developers and their influence.
A judge decided that David Levy was ineligible to be reelected to the Palm Beach Gardens city council. Levy resigned yesterday.

Just another Democrat trying to pull a fast one. It didn't work this time.
One growth whore down and how many more to go? Our waterways have been destroyed because of politicians just like this one.And because of idiots like us that put them into office. We are reaping what we have sown. If your family couldn't swim this weekend,go look in the mirror. You are the ones who elected "David Levy's" in all areas of our government.Look at our own Lake Worth city Commission. Scott Maxwell Pam Triolo and Andy Amoroso cheering on the further destruction of our parks.Look at our county Commission. They just can't say no to development. All of these politicians above and thousands like them are the reason our state has been destroyed. One growth whore down and a butt load to go.

I wish that Blogger had a "like" button. Thanks, Katie. And you did a great job debating amendment 4. It's too bad that all the money from the Chamber of Commerce, League of freaking Cities, developers, etc. allowed this amendment to be hijacked with local people here only interested in growth no matter the cost to our environment and to our State. Some of them dropped out of local politics and that's a very good thing. But we are still fighting the fight.
To be sure, there are many of us out here who are not "growth whores" who think that we need to develop and re-develop. People are moving down here in huge numbers. I don't like urban sprawl but in order to accommodate the influx, it is the "head in the sand" approach that is foolish.
Just keep saying "NO" to new development and "NO" to heights and "NO, NO, NO" to everything. Us "growth whores" will find ways to make the influx work and to our benefit.
You say that #4 failed due to the influence of developers and the chamber. You are wrong, most people heard both sides and decided they didn't want grid-lock.
Most people didn't understand both sides. Your super PACs and developers had the dollars to get your message out there to convince the voters.
So, it is left to our state's elected leaders and residents to find an answer to Florida's addition to promiscuous construction before it is too late for our state's natural resources and quality of life. Lesley Blackner said that and she is so right.
Just look what has happened in Palm Beach County alone. It's a disgrace. And it's even more sickening about our Ag Reserve when the people were very clear about that vote. The PB County Commission stinks.
I happen to agree with you on the AG reserve. Like what don't they understand about the term Ag reserve? But you are still wrong about #4. I wasn't part of any super PAC. I'm not a developer. All the anti #4 people had to do was show what type of decisions needed to go "before the voters" and it was evident this was a bad amendment. It would have stopped all development which is what your side wants.... sticking our heads in the sand.
The majority of voters are only stupid when the vote doesn't go your way.
It would not have stopped all development. It would have stopped BAD development of which we have had plenty.
The growth whores lied their faces off about #4. All it would have done is allow voters to vote on any development that was asking for a change in the towns comprehensive plan. The Comprehensive plan is a communities bible on what kind of growth that the town wanted. If the city commission had said no to the developers. it would have stopped there. The people would not have voted. When was the last time that ANY GOVERNMENT said no to ANY development????If the governing body of a town said "sure, come on in and change our Comp plan" then the people would have also had a voice in saying this was development that they wanted. Amendment 4 terrified the growth whores and their Sugar Daddy developers! We all know it's easier to bribe one or two commissioners than it is to convince a whole town that this is something they need and want! Stop the lie that amendment 4 would have stopped all growth! The lies against #4 were ridiculous I.E No more schools or hospitals could have been built! I.E No more property rights! It was impossible to fight the hundreds of millions of dollars that were poured into the lies against 4 by developers that could see their bribery way of life slipping away ! Katie Mcgiveron
