Florida just passed a Bill to randomly test State workers for drugs.
Critics of the Bill including our own Jeff Clemens said the measure was an intrusive and unnecessary procedure. They also chided their Republican colleagues for a “big government" program that they said would improperly insert the government into an employee's personal life.
“We're talking less personal freedom without probable cause," said Senator Chris Smith, a Democrat from Fort Lauderdale. “This is more government intrusion and more costs." Can you believe that? They want druggies on the Florida payroll.
This Bill does not go far enough. We still have to coddle these people--can't even fire them. The Democrats are worried about the cost but insist that we pay for the rehabilitation of these addicts.

That is because Jeff is a known alcoholic and drug user himself, so are many of his rock band members.

Cited by the DEA, there are about 12.7 million people who have used some illegal drug in the last month and perhaps 30 to 40 million who have used some illegal drug within the last year. Of the 12.7 million who used illegal drugs in the last month, about 10 million are presumed to be casual drug users, and about 2.7 million are addicts.
The only thing that we know about Rep. Clemens is that he sponsored a Bill for Medical marijuana. This certainly does not make him a user of anything illegal.

I know one of Jeffs good friends, and they say Mr Clemmons does not drink. I have never seen or ever heard anyone say the man drinks. However, on the matter of State workers being drug tested, I feel if its good enough for the private sector, its only fitting our electeds join in the fun!

Our elected officials need to submit to random drug testing. As the people making the laws that we the people have to follow, it seems VERY CRITICAL that if anyone is to be tested, they should be first in line!
If you drink a beer or glass of wine, that makes you an alcoholic? That would be true if we are to buy into your theory that someone who smokes pot once in a while is a "druggie" or "drug addict." All you OLD FOGIES need to get over your 1920's fear of recreational drugs. All of our grandparents (well, mine at least, probably your spouses for the old folks) are dying from lung cancer from cigarettes... can anyone on here tell me they've had a single friend or relative die from marijuana. Don't think so. GET OVER YOUR IT OLD PEOPLE. Your fear of drugs is soooo out of touch with reality.
These are the people in power, folks. Boy are we ever in trouble. Next they will want us to PAY for their recreational drug use. Maybe that's why they love us being at $16 trillion in debt and constantly have their hands out occupying this and that. Ya gotta luv it.
Most violent crime is committed not because people want to buy drugs, but because people are ON drugs. Ask PBSO. That is the truth and has nothing to do with your put down using a 1920's mentality to do so. Why not you getting into THIS century and admit that there is a serious problem with drugs. Usually the problem starts with something not too dangerous such as marijuana. You have read about the deaths of those using drugs. You seriously want these people making decisions that affect your lives and your wallet? Actually, I think there are some older people on drugs, left over from the Hippie generation, drop outs who think they're cool but they are an exception.

The argument isn't that people should be permitted to drive, work, or make decisions while under the influence of drugs OR ALCOHOL. Obviously that is improper. Nobody has ever advocated for allowing drugs to be used while driving, working, or sitting in the Senate of House Chambers. The argument is why can't people do what they want in their own home? Live and let live ya know. More crimes are committed involving legal drugs - alcohol and perscription drugs - than any illegal drugs. (Go ask PBSO man) It's obvious your mind will never change, so I'll just let it go. Because I'm just a lazy, quitter, drop out, drug addict. In fact, I'll just go ahead and agree with you. Anyone who ever has, ever will, or is currently using any drug is a big fat LOSER and violent criminal.
p.s. I'd be willing to bet my drug money that I have more education and degrees than you, a larger income, and graduated with a higher class rank and GPA than you did if you made it through college that is.

Mr. Clemens has the opportunity to voice a prudent argument. But he will not. Just as many other state representatives and congressional representatives will not. This begs the question: Who is being served?
