The final applicants for the city manager position in Lake Worth were charming and likeable. You came away with the impression that at least two of them would be very approachable in their management style. Any one of the three would do a good job for Lake Worth. Each individually were asked questions for one-half hour at the City Hall meeting by all five commissioners.
After that, we all ended up at our gorgeous golf course to meet them one on one and chat briefly. Coffee, punch and the best homemade cookies, were served.
I did ask one candidate what he/she thought should be done as far as the lack of civility at times on the dais and was told that the mayor has to lead in that regard. I also asked another if he/she were a victim of bullying from the dais how it should be handled and was told that he/she would arrange a meeting immediately to get to the bottom of the discontent.

It is a shame that more residents did not come out to meet the candidates for City Manager.
APATHY. Essentially, the same people who show up for meetings came to the Golfcourse. I just hope they choose someone who can see through the political BS of some. The same people were there who spout off a rhetoric unmatched in any city in the USA. Realizing that city managers implement the goals and votes of the commission, we do need someone who listens but yet--will turn the commission around to the correct way of thinking and giving the reasons why. The majority commission is listening to their supporters, not to anyone in the middle of the road politics in this city. The Chicken mentality is out but they keep harping on it and harping on anarchists and are in the extreme themselves. These people are extremely vocal and now have some clout. They have made an alliance with the LW Herald as they had done when Parrish was writing. It is sickening when a news publication can be so biased--not seeing the forest for the trees. Hope you're reading this Mark.
Watch out for our LDR's. You thought this was a compatible meeting at the golf-course on land use regulations several weeks ago? There are some who insist that we build 65 and 100 foot buildings in this city but swear they don't want Ft. Lauderdale here.
Am I correct in saying that you do not think that the Post is Biased, when the Lake Worth Reporter is a chum of Mulvehill?
Would I be correct in saying that the Lake Worth Herald is biased when Easton is meeting with Maxwell and Amoroso at Dave's Last Resort and never writes anything favorable to the minority?
