Lake Worth citizen responds to Public Commentary discussion at Tuesday night's meeting

Mayor Triolo,

I do not want to go back to the "bad old" days of public comment at the end of the meeting.Tired, frustrated citizens, sometimes with little kids asleep in their laps, routinely had to wait past midnight to be able to speak to their elected representatives in a public forum. That was used as a weapon to get people to just give up and go home.

Your main job is to LISTEN to and REPRESENT the citizens of Lake Worth. Yes you do have to carry out the business of the city. But may I remind you that we people who put you up on that dais in the first place ARE THE CITY? By symbolically wanting to shove the people of Lake Worth to the back of the bus, you are really letting us all know just what you think of us.

And as far as you electeds getting to reply to our comments, please just don't! Your job is to listen and then politely say "thank you"  for your comments. Next, call us the next day or hook up the appropriate city employee to talk to us.

Do you know how many times I've had to sit there and listen to Commissioners totally disrespect a person who had the nerve to say something they don't like? And the citizen has to sit there and basically shut up as they are being berated and misrepresented? No thank you!

I can't believe it, but I totally agree with Peggy Fisher's comments at the last meeting.

Bottom line, Mayor- We are your bosses. We are the reason there even is a meeting. We are the reason that you and the employees of this city get a paycheck and  benefits. Guess just who is the most important thing in those city meetings, Mayor Triolo? Just a hint, it's not you.

Great letter, Katie. This commission has never really understood that we are the bosses. It's good to remind them from time to time.

As a regular attendee at meetings Katie accurately points out the realities of the public's position vis-a-vis those on the dais, most of whom have little regard or respect for those who pay their now doubled salaries.

Omari Hardy would do well to keep his opinions to himself until he learns by listening. I am sure he lectures his students regularly on learning by listening.

Thank you Katie for taking the time to clarify the history;

I would like to thank Commissioner Robinson,Commissioner Maxwell and Commissioner Amoroso for their comments regarding public comment. Who thought that it was an acceptable idea to bring up this item at the END of the meeting under City Manager comments? Katie Mcgiveron

Picture yourself in a boat on a river with tangerine trees and marmalade skies. Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly, A girl with Kaleidoscope eyes.

Dedicated to Katie, whose imagination rivals the BEATLES.

No one knew that the CM was bringing this up during his report. But it certainly generated some interesting comments from the dais. Probably the commission should have directed the CM to bring it back as an agenda item before all the discussion took place and one commissioner outing himself as unconcerned about what residents think or their importance. There may not be that many in the chamber but more people are now watching online.

11am Didn't John Lennon write that when he was on LSD? Are you?

If he did, it's pretty creative stuff!

WOW--CRAZY MAN!

Lucy was a reference to a picture that John Lennon's young son Julian had drawn of a classmate of his.
The only one in Lake Worth that I can think of with "kaleidescope eyes" is Mayor Triolo after one of her "nicotine" breaks! LOL
