HOUSE BUDGET DISCUSSIONS
Rep. Mark Pafford says, "the House committee meetings reached full speed in February, preparing us for the beginning of the regular legislative session.
The only thing lawmakers must do each year – it’s in the state constitution – is pass a balanced budget. Another requirement is for the governor to present a proposed budget 30 days before session starts. Gov. Scott has done so, but now we must get down to the Legislature’s job of writing and passing a spending plan."
Questions have been raised by Rep. Pafford and other members of the House Appropriations Committee regarding details of Rick Scott's plan: what was included to fund education; what was included to fund health care; how he proposes to fund the Florida Water and Land Conservation Amendment that passed with a 75% vote in November.
