Why are we having all of this discussion and making contraceptives a political issue? Ira Stoll says, "There are a lot of questions here that go right to the heart of Obamacare. Why is the president getting involved in setting prices for prescription drugs in the first place? Where in the Constitution does he get that power? Why should people past reproductive age who are paying co-payments for their heart or arthritis medication be paying taxes to subsidize free prescription contraceptives for law students?

And for heavens sake, let Rush Limbaugh speak his mind. Sandra Fluke is the Georgetown law student who spoke about Obama's contraceptive mandate says, "For a lot of students who, like me, are on public interest scholarships, that (the cost) is practically an entire summer’s salary." Well gosh, Sandra, you set yourself up for the "slut" attack. If you had only said you spent half of a summer's salary.

Rush Limbaugh is a pig....and if the Republicans don't step away from the social issues they will get annihilated in the general election
Again, I think the Democrat above got it mixed up. It is the Democrats that are all involved in social issues spending billions a year on foodstamps, unemployment for 1.5 years and all sorts of entitlements whereas the Republicans want to cut the crap.
The difference is that democrats reacted to the greatest economic downturn, since the great depression, with the "social issues" you listed above, which have helped millions through these tough times. While on the other hand, Republicans have and still are more concerned about birth control, the President's birth certificate, and tax breaks for the wealthy.
Every single day that Santorum compares being gay to having sex with animals, every day that republicans talk about making woman's right's less accessible, and every day that Mitt Romney talks about how wealthy he is or how "tall the tree's are"
Is a day that the President smiles in the white house.
Re reason for: "Why should people past reproductive age who are paying co-payments for their heart or arthritis medication be paying taxes to subsidize free prescription contraceptives for law students?"
For the same reason that couples without children pay school taxes! For the common good of the country.
Taxes are not paid cafeteria style.
I the poster at 9:04 am a Republican, so stop insulting me.
As this is a socialistic country now and there are more and more people who do not pay income taxes to support this country and I am not including women children or retirees, I am rather sure that your comment is embraced by all of them. It does not negate the fact that Obama has increased our national debt 4 TRILLION DOLLARS more since he was elected--the most rapid increase in the debt under any U.S. president.
Personally I do not think that birth control should be a political issue.
Helping people is one thing. That is a temporary thing, not permanent as our government seems to provide. It should not be supported by tax dollars either. Millions of people during "these tough times" have been helped but many of them are free-loading on the system; many of them are illegal aliens, etc. Without the free ride they would have to find a job.
Please, I understand that this County is predominantly Democrat and loves Obama. As a registered Democrat myself, I know how impossible it is to give facts that won't be challenged when anythign is said about Obama. This particular blog, however, is about the Slut remark. It is not about what Bush did. It is not about excuses as to why we are where we are after Obama has been in office for 4 years now. It is about the "slut." :)
The President had to spend that money because the economy was collapsing...it's not like he spent 4 trillion dollars for the hell of it. The citizenry isn't stupid. Where were you Lynn when Bush was spending trillions in good economic times?
Ok, we can't seem to get back to the "slut" remark.
The recession started under Bush and I was screaming then.
The Economic Stimulas Act was not passed until 2008. It was signed into law on February 13, 2008 by President Bush with the support of a majority of Democratic lawmakers, as well as a minority of Republicans. It started out at $158 billion. How much have we spent on bridges to nowhere? How much have we spent bailing out the auto industry that has off-shored its jobs? What about the crooked banking industry that brought down the United states economy. It is a disgrace.
We live in a socialist country if you are a Wall Street Banker, that is obvious.
Remember who took trillions of dollars from the government, it was not socialists but FREE MARKET advocates and PRIVATE BANKS.
Limbaugh is a nasty clown, and a distraction.
