Father Rasmus' invocation fell on deaf ears with Trio

Comment Up
Rev. Paul A. Rasmus
 St. Andrews Episcopal Church
Father Paul is a graduate of the School of Theology at the University of the South and has been serving as a priest in the Diocese of Southeast Florida since 1977.  This is the sixth year that Father Paul has been at St. Andrew's.  He is Chair of the Diocesan Commission on Ministry and is a member of the Diocesan Task Force for Addiction and Recovery.

On Tuesday night at the Lake Worth City Commission meeting, Father Rasmus gave the invocation. He was invited to speak by Commissioner McVoy. Unfortunately, a trio of commissioners as well as many residents in the chamber did not listen. They had more fun taking their political pot shots,  condemning McVoy and Maier for not answering an e-mail invitation to walk with some of the downtown merchants. Some residents hit hard on the homeless implying they all have a choice and can be just like they are even bringing in a few success stories. The Mayor demanded that residents speak to the Resolution on opening and closing hours of our public spaces, not the Ordinance, even though one is not effective without the other.

Creator of the universe sent down upon us as citizens and office holders of this community of Lake Worth, the spirit of wisdom, charity, compassion and justice, so that with steadfast purpose, we may faithfully work with one another to advance the well-being of all people. Give us grateful hearts and ever remind us of the many blessings we receive on a daily basis. All this we ask in Your most holy name. Amen.
Father Rasmus

Very sad, very frustrating, Triolo LOVES to tell us what we may and may not say to the sacred council. She needs to take a page from Bornstein, this is the peoples TEMPLE, remember? LOL. It's a city hall.
You could not speak on one without the other. How stupid of her. Triolo was just afraid of the press getting wind of how feeble the gang of three's argument was.
I NEVER heard Cara Jennings instruct the citizens of Lake Worth on how they were to speak.
Thanks for yet another law suit Pam Andy and Scott.Law suits are what happen when you go against your citizens and the laws in your town.
I wonder how "BOOZE FEST " featuring Triolo,Amoroso ,and Maxwell went.

Cara Jennings not only listened to the people
she could actually have a conversation about it
with you! I didn't agree w/everything she did
but I/My ideas/thoughts and feelings were heard!

The mayor has a big problem allowing ANY ONE to
exercise free speech! She rebuts whenever she wants
and has declared we lied or basically called US Liars!

Now she's campaigning and the sweet ole lady is trying
to re-appear but her nasty TYRANNICAL ways are set in
stone and bad habits are hard to break!

Hey Pam - there is no such thing as "Mayor Liberty".
You MUST follow the rules and listen to US. That is
what the "CONSENT of the GOVERNED" means - not your
MEAN WAYS of cutting people off and correcting their
comments!

can't believe you removed someone's post when it is a legitimate concern. All people should receive the sacrament the same way so if you don't let some use the chalice you shouldnt have any use it.

I removed it after carefully reconsidering it. If you had posted under your REAL NAME, it might have had some credibility. But since it was an anonymous, and a pretty awful charge, I took it down.
