Lake Worth Candidate Information

Comment Up

Facebook and/or web site pages of candidates for Mayor and Lake Worth City Commission:

Ryan Hartman

Scott Maxwell--Has raised $12,035 through December 31, 2015

Pam Triolo--Has raised $9,075 through December 31, 2015

Diane Jacques

Gary Antieau--

Andy Amoroso--Has raised $12,580 through December 21, 2015

Frank McAlonan

One interesting contribution was that of Benny's on the Beach. The owners gave all three incumbents the maximum contribution of $1,000 each.

Another thing to note is that the three incumbents are running in tandem--even their signs are being grouped together...The Trio.

Not all signs are grouped together. I have just one for Andy in my yard. and it's because he has helped me.

Perhaps using the word 'all', 'always', 'never', could be used more judicially. There are few absolutes when it comes to rhetorical speech.

For me, Andy has been very approachable, whether i've drop into his store or leave a voice message for him... He calls me back. He's been very helpful to me in getting a disabled vehicle removed from our street (S L st) and getting code compliance on the weekend to catch my neighbor from putting up a new fence and other home construction they were't suppose to do without a permit. He shows up at our cleanups, and is friendly.

I can say it appears most of these candidates including the emcumbamt love Lake Worth, I just question the new people because they don't seem to know much and have no volunteer work around the city.

Well I hope the owners of Benny's can vote then too. I know I will never vote for any of these three jerks ever again. They are the most disrespectful commissioners to their constituents ever in LW history.

Andy has a lot of his signs in front of blighted properties many blighted on Federal Hwy.

This trio sucks. We need to all vote them the hell out of office and send them a message we are not going to be bullied any longer, we and our city deserve better than their mediocrity. Their doings have allowed the city manager to treat most of the public like crap, we are just not going to take it any more in this city.

Vote out the bums Bill!

I've voted for Andy in the past, and was hopefull that having a downtown business owner on the dias would mean there would be someone active on behalf of downtown.

While I think Andy is a very nice man, I've not been impressed by his record. The homeless population and crime downtown has gotten way worse under his and the majority's oversight. Of course they don't necessary have all the tools to control the problem, but I'm so over hearing them all drink the PBSO kool-aid with no action taken.

The only commissioner that has responded to my inquiries is McVoy.

Why not blame the trio for global warming and sea level rise while you're at it. Do you really think that a part time gig like being a city commissioner in a small town wields such powers to alleviate human suffering, banish famines, and stop the sun from rising every day ?

Come on... Get real. If you're such rocket scientist, what your idea to rid us of the homeless, sober homes, drug addict recovery failures, and crime?

If Washington and Tallahassee can't even figure out how to nip the homeless problem in the bud, maybe, just maybe it's a bigger problem than the locals can handle all
by themselves. Will you at least acquiesce that?

Again, what are YOU doing to help find solutions?

And please don't you say;

1) give the panhandlers money 'cause their signs say they are hungry while they smoke their cigarrettes
2) hand out food at the I-95 exit ramps
3) clean up the intersections and light pole bases where the beggars leave all the stuff (less the cash) people give them. (Don't believe me... Then just park you at and take a walk thru these intersections and look around - I'd post pictures if I could)
4) give out food with the Wellingtin church group that drives clear across the damn county to feed people in our Bryant Park because they 'don't want THOSE people in our church"
5) pick up the trash from the food handed out by these "do good"groups that the 'clients' just throw on the ground

Here's a clue... These beggers are $20-$50 an hour, tax free, because we are generally concerned about our fellow humans. But being generous in this way only fuels the beggers 'need' for drugs and acohol. It's a total scam.

JUST SAY NO TO PANHANDLERS and eventually they will go away... But as long as you continue to cater to them they will
haunt us.

There is help for them - call 211 or ask a local cop who can assist them into the Lewis Center. The first seemingly insurmountable obstacle standing before these people is that to take advantage of the help they have to give up the alcohol and the drugs. Which they are not wanting to do.

You know I like a roofer my head and food in my fridge… And I get them by going to work every day. I also like a glass of wine or a little hit off of a joint but that has never kept me from showing up for work the next day.

Sort of the same philosophy of not feeding feral cats?
Thanks.
The Homeless Coalition is having some sort of meeting soon to help with solutions. Do you remember when that is?

Of course we can't solve homelessness as an issue, but you don't see these folks on Palm Beach and you don't see them in Welly, why is that? Clearly the leadership and police in our fine City are not doing enough to make them move along. Who is responsible for that, everyone in a leadership position, I hold them all responsible.

it is the worse its ever been in the 15 years I've lived here.

why not blame them for rising crime and expanding blight?? It's happened under their watch. They blame Jennings-Golden-Mulvehill for the great recession, foreclosure crisis, deteriorated roads, etc. The bond vote was an epic failure. Classic poison pill. Everyone I talk to wanted to vote for it, but it was so badly mismanaged that no one did. Imagine that! We begged for them to give us something we could approve and they told us that they know better than we do. I'm sick of their posturing theatrics and political thuggery. Blaming everyone else for problems they don't fix, taking credit for things they didn't do, trying to tell us that crime is down when it's worse than ever, and the way they treat other commissioners so disrespectfully. I hope they get a comeuppance.

@8:06...
You left out one thing--how they treat the residents who disagree with them. They have called them liars and more and do not follow their own rules of decorum.

Let us not forget the reason Benny's on the Beach contributed so much the trio of Pam, Scott, and Andy: Hudson Holdings had picked him to be the designated caterer for him when he takes over our upstairs at the beach. Anyone remember that next attempt, the PPP: "Public-Private-Partnership?" The only reason this trio turned that down was the massive amount of outrage at their failed attempt with the ITN to give a piece of our beach to their buddy HH. Oh yes, and NO ONE on the commission had any idea, no siree, how HH had their own key to the ballroom to hold their very own news conference up there just a few months ago to publicize their pending PPP. --Follow the money and you get closer to the truth. Maybe it still is possible to buy a piece of the beach right out from under the voters. Watch who contributes to this Trio's reelection. Think politicians can't be bought?

Lynn, re 8:06 comment--how right you are! I thought it was disgraceful at the last meeting to allow all those noisy comments and raucous laughter when you were attempting to speak. Nope, helped their side so was not noted as out of order. Of course not. I also noticed Pam kind of snickering under the radar and sending eye messages to those in that crew. I also went to a few of those meetings when they were pushing the bond. I swear the one at Wingfield Center had plants in the audience acting like residents for that area. One woman, interestingly WEARING one of their Tshirts, stood up to say how very grateful she was for what they were doing for "their" neighborhood. Fortunately, I think the audience saw through this. When you are one of the few white faces in a crowd it's kind of obvious in that Tshirt. Also overheard by myself:
"Of course they will come. If you give free food black people always come." (Some of the presenters were getting antsy when no one showed up right away for their presentation.) They clearly have no respect for voters, black or white. And they did call me a liar for saying what is stated on the audio of the ITN--published on their own website. While also stating that none of them have ever listened to the audio. They must to clairvoyant as well as perfect--

A few of us were discussing the growing problem of dumping druggies and Sober Homes in our area at the Site Plan hearing. And the advice from our law team of Torcivia? DO NOTHING! reasoning if you want to call it that?: You might get sued. --No wonder not much gets done here and we have such large payouts by legal.

The City has a legal and valid, grandfathered in, short term rental law. If they started enforcing, it across the board, it would reduce the sober homes since they rent by the week or by 4 weeks. But, the City leadership won't enforce b/c so many realtors contribute to their campaigns and they want to keep the vacation rentals, and some realtors are now pushing sober homes too.
