The CRA wants to spend a lot of grant money, if they get it, on a few Lake Worth intersections by spending the money on art. They applied again for the Knight Cities Challenge. The project must take place in or benefit one or more of the 26 Knight communities one of which is Palm Beach County. One great thing about this grant is there are no matching funds needed.
"This year, Lake Worth’s submission is called “Art Avenida.” Oliva [Lake Worth CRA director] said three or four intersections will be spruced up with art, light, plantings and structures that celebrate diverse cultures — particularly the Mayan community. Oliva said the city will also have live events at those intersections."
As about one-half of the city is in the CRA district and full of slum and blight, its mission of eradicating the decay in our residential districts has taken a back-seat to helping the commercial corridor. The CRA continues to go in an artsy direction as Oliva said that she wants to bring "art and culture to the people at large."

Mayan art??? Mayan art is walking down Sixth Ave south every day. Mayan art is in the parks. Mayan art is on the Obama phones yapping non stop. Stop with the Mayan. We have Mayan everything up the wazoo in this city. They're going to be deported next year. So stop. No more graffiti art. No more ethnic art. Just stop. And fix the darn streets!!
