That 1950 concrete bridge was built after the 1949 hurricane destroyed the old wood bridge. It also made a big mess of the Lantana boatyard.

That old Lantana wood bridge might have gotten destroyed in the 1947 hurricane. We spent the night in the LW auditorium upstairs in the city hall building. At the time we lived in the north end of Lantana. The mid to late 1940`s was bad for hurricanes. Even going back to about 1945, we lived on Detroit St., Waites bird store, south of Lantana in an old 2 story wood frame house. My dad had just finished building his first house down by the lake. No seawalls back then. A hurricane came and flooded the house with 4 feet of mud.

And not one local TV station nor metro bus addressing the obvious situation of how MANY people who don't drive are going to get to work. A line via Boynton Bch. Blvd. AND Lake Worth Rd is very necessary.
