Yesterday, one day after members of Congress were sworn in, they read the Constitution by taking a section of it, one at a time, and reading it to the Body. I watched it live and was impressed.
According to Glenn Beck, the Congress essentially white-washed the Constitution yesterday as if somehow they felt that the nation is incapable of understanding the darker parts of its own history. They left out the 3/5's Clause which consisted of provisions allowing southern states to count slaves as 3/5 persons for purposes of apportionment in Congress (even though the slaves could not, of course, vote). It expressly denied to Congress the power to prohibit importation of new slaves until 1808, and prevented free states from enacting laws protecting fugitive slaves.
Jessee Jackson believes that by only reading part of the Constitution, House Republicans glossed over its imperfections, and the whole notion that it ever needs or needed to be changed.
Also, they left out the 18th Amendment which was Prohibition that was ratified in 1919.

The twenty first amendment corrected the 18th by repealing prohibition. What I did NOT hear from Beck is where or "why" the 3/5s clause was not corrected by a subsequent amendment. The fact the House of Representatives left it out screams that it is not finished.
I saw where some idiotic blogger rated Glenn Beck as A-- Hole of the year and cited his biggest lies. I read through them and if that is all they have on him, we might have a chance. He constantly tells his viewers not to believe him and to do your own research. He backs up his point of view with video clips of the person saying in his own words.
The best one was Beck's lie that the global temp has not raised in the past decade. The idiot quoted several scientists saying that the past decade was the warmest on record. One doesn't prove or disprove the other.
