Lake Worth Workshop on One Penny Sales Tax Usage
Per the meeting Tuesday night, the City of Lake Worth will use their estimated $2.2 million a year for the 10 years sales tax according to the ballot language that was passed by the voters. The language encompasses many things in its "infrastructure" description: district owned school buildings, equipment; technology and security; purchase school buses, public safety vehicles and equipment; and equip, construct and repair roads, streetlights, sidewalks, parks, drainage, shoreline and wastewater infrastructure, recreational and governmental facilities.
The top priorities seemed to be roads, downtown parking garage and the beach complex. A few commissioners mentioned a parking garage at our beach. Andy Amoroso has wanted a downtown parking garage for years and the public was there to support his desire with all speaking out in favor. The Vice Mayor still did not want us to forget Boutwell Road (the Park of Commerce) as well as economic development but said to use the money on as many roads as possible and prioritize those roads that did not make the cut on the bond. Omari Hardi and the Mayor agreed.
In May, there was a workshop on our pool and Kimley Horn Engineers said that the pool, including locker room, restrooms and pump house would be $509,100 to complete. Let's get the pool repaired now and then use the rest on the roads.

Quote of the Day - Corey Stewart, Republican from Virginia
“I think Southern heritage is American heritage. Whether you were born in the South or whether you came to the South,
you have an obligation to protect its history and its heritage, and it’s
under attack. You have the left, the loony left, taking down historical monuments. It’s wrong, and one of the reasons it’s wrong is, look, those monuments were placed there by a previous generation, which wanted to remind us and future generations of the horrors of war and what happened. They also wanted to remind us to give some appreciation to those who fought to defend the state. I think it’s just wrong to tear down history no matter what it is.”

Fake cop in Lake Worth gets arrested
NEVER a dull moment in Lake Worth. This little city has it all. We never can get enough police in our city with all the crime that our commission continues to tell us is going down...crime--dropping like a fly I guess.
Now the crime is a fake cop. Someone could write a book.

Pot dispensaries in Lake Worth
Last night, one of our Lake Worth residents and a big supporter of commissioner Andy Amoroso declared that she wanted our city to become a destination. This would happen if we built a parking garage in our downtown.
It may not be the garage that attracts people but rather the two medical marijuana dispensaries that will open--one at 1125 North Dixie and the other at 1 S. Dixie directly adjacent to City Hall. We will be attracting pot users to Lake Worth. Now that's a proud distinction--to be known as the "Starbucks of medical marijuana" as one dispensary owner said.
Commissioner Amoroso says, "We can't say no..if no one else is allowing them to open, where else are they going to go?" It seems other cities passed moratoriums on dispensaries and according to the article, Lake Worth did not do that and now we have to accept the pot shops.

On March 21, the commission on a 5/0 vote and 2nd Public Hearing established a moratorium and ordinance on accepting applications, confirmation letters, business licenses, development orders and permits involving uses relating to medical marijuana.

Waterfront Tower plan in West Palm Beach gets hearing
"Commissioner Shanon Materio and Commission President Cory Neering said
they wanted city staff to explore and the commission to discuss other
options to preserve the church and the waterfront...
Materio said Related’s plan amounted to “spot zoning” and she recommended another option: Have the city buy the church site for a public use other than a skyscraper, perhaps selling some of the land for a smaller development, to recoup the city’s money."

I like Shanon Materio's option.

Refugees and the United Nations Agenda
“The United States admitted 85,000 refugees in Fiscal Year (FY) 2016 –
15,000 more than in FY 2015 – and pledged to increase its refugee
admissions to 110,000 in FY 2017. The United States also increased
alternative pathways of admission into the United States, providing
special immigrant visas to more than 11,000 people at risk from Iraq and
Afghanistan in FY 2016 – an increase of over 4,000 from FY 2015.
A day before the Leaders’ Summit, the U.N. convened at the U.N. Summit for Refugees and Migrants 2016, and statements from top U.N. officials at the event revealed that “replacement migration” continues to be a top priority for their global agenda.
“Replacing populations in the West with those from the Third World is also seen by the globalists as a great way to redistribute the world’s wealth,” Hohmann (Leo Hohmann, author of a 2017 investigative book, “Stealth Invasion: Muslim Conquest through Immigration and Resettlement Jihad) said. “We ship many of our manufacturing jobs to the Third World and they ship us their poor masses who can take advantage of our generous welfare programs while working in the factories that have not yet been outsourced. That’s a double whammy used against the American middle class, impoverishing Americans while improving the financial lot of those in poor countries.”

Lake Worth Workshop tonight on Penny Sales Tax
Please note that this workshop meeting is scheduled for 3 hours.
The penny sales tax was voted in by the electorate to be used for crumbling bridges, potholes, faulty school air conditioners and leaky roofs. It is estimated to generate $2.7 billion over the next decade with Lake Worth getting around $2 mil a year. The County plans on spending $31 million to build a homeless resource center in or near Lake Worth and renovate run-down motels for use as temporary housing for the homeless.
If you recall, the Trio along with city manager Michael Bornstein, wanted it to be used to bring the Atlanta Braves to John Prince Park. As that didn't work out for them, tonight we will find out where they want to spend this money. I have a good idea on what they would like to do with it. What's your guess?
