"I'm a Black person trapped in a White body"
In an apparent move to satirize former
U.S. Olympic champion Bruce Jenner’s transition from male to female, a
caller to a national radio program came out on the air Wednesday as a
black person trapped in a white man’s body.
“I’m a little nervous ’cause I’ve never come out of the closet in any way before,” said 38-year-old Steve from Chillicothe, Missouri, on the Rush Limbaugh program.
“But I wanted you to know, be the first to know and your audience to know that I am actually an African-American. I’ve been an African-American my entire life. It’s been bottled up inside me, and as of today, I’m no longer going to be Caucasian.”

The most screwed up state in the Country
By far, it is CALIFORNIA!
Their legislature just raised the age to legally buy tobacco from 18 to 21. But, but but, they are first-in-the-nation to expand health care for illegal immigrants even when thousands of legal residents are having to struggle to access health care through the state's Medi-Cal program. It would also allow anyone age 18 and under to enroll in Medi-Cal regardless of immigration status -- and let undocumented immigrants age 19 and up enroll in Medi-Cal if there's money provided in the state budget. California doesn't even know how much this will cost them.
All you illegals out there, California wants you.

Commissioner Andy Amoroso
Comment Up
Last night, Commissioner Andy Amoroso mentioned that he will be on the Board of the Palm Beach County League of Cities for 2015/2016. But he was way too modest when he also stated that he was on the National Policy & Advocacy board for the Gays & Lesbians. This is a constituency voluntary group of local elected and appointed officials formed to encourage the active involvement and full participation of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender municipal officials, and their supporters, in the organization and programs of the National League of Cities

Drew Martin is against Obama's Seismic Testing
As we witness another offshore oil-spill tragedy, this one in Santa Barbara, Calif., we realize how the same event could devastate South Florida’s economy.
Right now, the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is seeking to give out permits to permit seismic testing (loud air guns firing noises underwater) to map for offshore oil off Florida’s Atlantic coast. These blasts are extremely loud, and sound moves more quickly under water.
Please read the rest of this OP ed Piece by Lake Worth's Drew Martin that was in today's Palm Beach Post by Clicking here...
Seismic testing is a process whereby an image of the subsurface is created. The data obtained is then used by the oil and gas company to locate the most optimum place to drill for gas. Obama has approved of this. To read about it, Click here

Let's save the Florida Australian Pines
Comment up
Australian pines provide nesting habitat for bald eagles, anhingas, great horned owls, red shouldered hawks, cormorants, great blue herons, yellow crowned night herons and, occasionally, ospreys; perching/ roosting habitat for pelicans, bald eagles, ospreys and many species of songbirds; and year-round food for a variety of native and migratory birds.
They also do a first class job of providing shade while still allowing significant light as well as the beautiful colors of the sky to beam through. Their slender trunks allow the sea breezes to flow along the ground unhindered. The soft sound of the wind singing through their limbs is unmatched by any other tree. Australian pines do not require watering, fertilizing or maintenance, other than occasional "topping." The needles” they drop make a perfect matting around picnic tables and a treasure house full of surprises that captivate inquisitive children.
Source: Save the Florida Australian Pines
Our tree had Muscovies that built nests in the cavity over the years. One morning I watched 8 little ducklings hop down from the tree and cross Lake Osborne with its mother. I was there to stop the traffic so that they could safely cross. All the birds nested there or dropped by like the occasional pelican and we watched an Osprey build a nest. The birds kept flying back to "their" tree that day. It was a wonderful tree. RIP.
This never should have happened by a condo board that caved in to a person who was wrapped up in herself giving every excuse in the book that it was going to "save" the building and "save" her head and her elderly mother's head. The city never should have changed the rules this one time (we all know some condo boards and property owners can be obnoxious) using the excuse that this was an invasive species. The building was built in 1966. How did we all survive this tree that has been growing forever?
The beginning of the felling atrocity and tragedy--an abomination

Lake Worth Crime
Why do I keep posting crime stats in our little city? The answer is three-fold: We have way too much of it and many incidents go unreported or not written up. This is just a small portion of what we really have. The second reason is, it pisses off all you people who want to keep your head in the sand to the simple fact we have a tremendous amount of crime here. The third reason is that we spend a small fortune on public safety that just keeps escalating. Hope that answers it.

Tonight's City Commission Meeting
Comment Up
The Library Board will give a presentation. The Board members are responsible for recommending expenditures from the Library Trust Fund and the Simpkin Trust Fund, advise the Library Director on issues of policy and service and participate in the long-range planning process. The members serve five-year terms. The last update provided by the Library Board was on September 9, 2014. No one knows why this board continues to allow one of its members to be on the board as he has missed half of the yearly meetings. Maybe he can explain.
Not much on the agenda other than Consent with 8 items that the commission wants to pass hoping there is no discussion.
CONSENT AGENDA:
A. The Resolution, 23-2015, authorizes the submission of a $25,000 grant application for cultural resources management consulting services to develop design guidelines for an historic preservation program and another $25,000 grant application for a consultant to conduct a survey of the City’s historical resources.
B. CDBG funds will increase from $450,750 to $480,750 for the design and reconstruction of 7th Avenue South between South A and South F Streets.
C. The Refuse Division has to make repairs to some roll off containers and is in need of additional repairs and rehabilitation of approximately 100 containers over the remainder of this fiscal year in an amount of $15,000: bringing the total Purchase Order to GT Supplies to $35,000, thus requiring Commission approval. As you recall THIS commission gave the city manager approval of anything under $25,000 to spend as necessary without their vote.
D. The City entered a Professional Services Agreement with Alcalde & Fay, Ltd., on April 16, 2014 for governmental relations and advocacy on behalf of the City. The Agreement provides for a monthly retainer fee of $5,000 per month. The City wishes to temporarily suspend the services of Alcalde & Fay and payment of the monthly retainer for five months in order to retain the law firm of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC, to represent the City in appeals related to FEMA’s de-obligation of funding provided for the 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons. I would like to know if this lobbyist firm has done any good for Lake Worth before we reinstate them.
E. In order for Baker Donelson to represent the City and continue to represent Ocwen Loan Servicing, the City must agree to a blanket waiver of actual or potential conflicts raised by Baker Donelson’s representation of Ocwen Loan Servicing in mortgage foreclosures and related defense of code violations and tax claims.
F. We have high service water pumps that were installed in 1958 and are nearing the end of their useful life. So the city wants Mock Roos to perform design phase services for the Water Treatment Plant High Service Pump Improvements at a cost not to exceed, 33,960.
G. Lift Station #4 was constructed in 1967 and is the last remaining Dry Pit - Wet Well type station in Lake Worth. Mock Roos will do design service for this at a cost not to exceed $34,425.
H. Ratification of new City board members :
City Tree Board:
Nadine Burns to fill an unexpired term ending on July 31, 2016
Recreation Advisory Board:
Karla Engel to fill an unexpired term ending on July 31, 2016. (the City says, this was the Mayor’s appointment; however, she waived her right to this appointment and the Vice Mayor was the next elected official responsible for an appointment.) In looking at the backup, District 2 or District 4 have the opportunity to appoint someone to the board. the Vice Mayor was not mentioned.
Finance Advisory Board: (Maier had an appointment and the Vice Mayor had two appointments...don't know who appointed these two but I guess we can use our imagination)
John Szerdi to fill an unexpired term ending on July 31, 2016
Robert Lepa to fill an unexpired term ending on July 31, 2015
NEW BUSINESS
A. The 6th Ave South – "Federal Hwy to Dixie Hwy project is a critical gateway entrance to the City off of I-95." That's how the city describes this project. Am I missing something? Federal to Dixie...a gateway? Approval tonight is for Craven Thompson and Associates to provide survey, engineering design, and limited construction phase services in an amount not to exceed $25,000. After that is completed, the city will get into spending heavy duty bucks ($197,865), in resurfacing the road, repairing sidewalks and curbing.

Our Felled Pine Tree - The Aftermath -- What a Mess!
Comment Up
Condo boards are really a force to behold...so many incompetents on them. Our grass, once green, will never recover. It will have to be leveled and replaced in many areas. Cutting down this tree probably cost $4,500...I'm not in the loop so that's an educated guess. I can't imagine all the additional costs.
I once had a lot of pride in our building and especially our lawn...it always, for the most part, looked pristine perfect the entire 13 years that I was on the Board working with people who cared. Now we will have to replace grass, possibly an irrigation system because of the trucks weighing a ton or more that rode over the underground pipes, sprinklers that are missing or broken and certainly decorative stones will have to be re-set by the roadway. Some condo boards just don't have any problem with spending your money. It still reminds me of some city commissions.
Just remember, it was Kelley Tree Service that did this and they have one hot secretary ready to dial PBSO. Also, if you live in a condo, make sure that the tree cutter man has the permit. This guy cut down a tree without producing one and it was never posted on or near the building, a requirement of our city code, the law. Kelley should have known this as I don't expect our new condo president is in the know. Also, if you ever move into a condo building, remember it will be as good as its management.

Should South Palm Beach even be a city?
“If we want to view the town as more than a wintertime retreat, then the governing body should look at investing in amenities that make it a year-round community,” said the town manager of South Palm Beach. Some of the questions he has posed have been asked by some living across the bridge regarding our own city.

Our 75 year old Pine was felled today
Comment Up
June 1, the beginning of hurricane season, the new president of our condo association was right on it--there has been a pine tree living on our property for at least 75 years and survived every hurricane imaginable. She is scared it might come down and fall on her condo unit. Without a vote of the membership as it is a major change to our common elements and required a vote of every owner, the Board took it upon themselves, with all sorts of justifications like "it might blow down," and voted to remove it.
Along with its removal by Kelley Tree Services that started the felling at 7:40am this morning (against Ordinance), were Muscovy eggs in the tree cavity that were smashed by workers, nesting birds as well as an Osprey. Who cares? This new condo president called me "evil" for trying to save this tree. Tell it to God. Muscovies are not protected either as they are not indigenous to Florida and considered an invasive species. Hell, most of the people who live here are not indigenous either. The president of this association certainly is not. But the bigger problem is condo boards in general and people running associations like they are their own serfdom, and making decisions that are emotional, not transparent and against the Declaration of Condominium. Felling this aged old tree, invasive species or not, should have been a membership vote; the tree wasn't hurting anyone.
When I asked Kelley Tree Service about it, they said the president told them to cut it down. He complained that it took six months to finally get the permit from the city. I asked to see the permit and he didn't have it. One of his workers told me to "piss off." This is MY property...I live here...I am one of the owners and one of the owners of this tree. Instead, the foreman had his secretary call the PBSO and two deputy vehicles showed up with one actually knocking on my door.
What happened here was the city capitulated to the "all invasive species need to be cut down" rhetoric (bull shit) and waived a requirement for this association due to some loophole that does not protect trees such as this. Instead of replacing the tree with 12 (twelve) trees due to its size that can not be palm trees, they are allowing it to be replaced with 3 (three) Foxtail palms. What a disgrace. After talking to William Waters, Director of Sustainability, he only learned about the Pine tree this morning. He is going to sit down with the city attorney to discuss multiple family residences and the loopholes on allowing permits of this type. Even if this can be stopped in the future, it doesn't change the fact that my tree, God's tree, was cut to a stump with the owners having no say so, whatsoever, by an aggressive condo board that went along with a self-serving president.
We have rules and protections in place for reasons. And the truth of the matter is, you can justify just about anything. There never should be legal loopholes to get around the law. At my association, the appointed, not elected, president has told me that "no one cares." In other words, "shut the hell up, we will do what we want." It reminds me of our city commission. They have the power to affect your lives in very meaningful and costly ways. And whether they give you 2 or 3 minutes to present your case, it really doesn't matter. The justification for what they do is twisted to convince people they are right even when they are not.
I have always said that the guy who eventually wins out is the one who screams the loudest. Follow the rules and you get a kick in the head.
How it looked yesterday
Already pruned back only four years ago for $2,500, arborist Dave McGrew said at the time, "The tree is not dangerous." That statement fell on deaf ears to my new condo commando board that was installed on January 12 that has been trying since early in the year to get a permit from the city.June 1, the beginning of hurricane season, the new president of our condo association was right on it--there has been a pine tree living on our property for at least 75 years and survived every hurricane imaginable. Obama just surfing
Even if you leave out the first quarter of 2009—when the recession that started in December 2007 was still ongoing--President Barack Obama has presided over the lowest average first-quarter GDP growth of any president who has served since 1947, which is the earliest year for which the Bureau of Economic Analysis began compiling data.
Quote of the Day - Phyllis Schlafly
“President Obama is instigating war on the United States...waging war on America. Muslims would like to take over the world and establish their caliphate, and Obama has let so many Muslims in. I don’t think he should let any Muslims in this country. There’s no reason why they should come in...
Anybody who comes in should have to
renounce allegiance to his former country and accept the American way of
life.. And if he doesn’t want to do that, goodbye!
Adios!”
