Banned Books WILL be read in Lake Worth Beach

Leave it to liberals

Lake Worth is not in a short supply of liberals/Democrats. The entire City Commission is Democrat.

Banned books required reading at new Lake Worth Beach book clubs for kids, adults

"The monthly Children’s Banned Picture Book Club, geared to readers ages 4 through 7, will launch Oct. 8 with a reading of Fry Bread: A Native American Family Story, an award-winning book about how fry bread became an essential Native American food tradition after communities were forced from their ancestral lands.

Ten days after that, another group of readers will gather in the same M Street reading room to launch another monthly Banned Book Club, this one for people ages 13 and up. They’ll read and discuss the Ray Bradbury classic Fahrenheit 451, about a society where books are outlawed and burned.

But they’ll be welcomed by the host of the two reading clubs — the Lake Worth Waterkeeper.

"'They want to control the narrative, and it’s the same way with banning books,' said Reinaldo Diaz, who founded Lake Worth Waterkeeper in 2017 and is a Lake Worth City Commissioner."

Actually, Reinaldo, we don't want our children indoctrinated with CRT. More than two-thirds of registered voters oppose sexual orientation and gender identity being taught in elementary school, a figure that remains true across nearly every demographic, according to recent polling.

In March of this year and saying Florida public schools are making sexually explicit books available to children, Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill to give parents a say in what books schools can and can't have in their libraries. If schools can't have these books,  guess liberals decided to go around this with their newly formed "Banned Picture Book Club."

Nobody cares so no blowback these people are so self righteous, stunning and brave.

Mr Diaz likened himself as a lawyer when campaigning stating that “I will bring the law and Christofer will bring the science” to the lake worth beach commission. Well Chris is bring the science because he’s a certified scientist but he ain’t no attorney not even close! Sad!

First of all, if he has a Juris Doctor degree, all he has to do is take the test for The Florida Bar. I imagine it is a pretty hard test, and you have to devote a lot of time studying for it. Hardly an impossible task.

But what is wrong with Fahrenheit 451? What is wrong with Fry Bread? Fahrenheit 451 is a Classic.

All of the Native American novels I read talk about Fry Bread. It sounds really good.

I was in the library today, and what we need in Lake Worth, is a wealthy donor. Some Billionaire to take pity on us, with this poor dilapidated Library. Maybe we could have a building fund.

There are many wealthy people in Lake Worth, saving a lot of money by building here instead of across the bridge.

Somebody should step up!

I love our little library.
Secondly, just the name of this group tells me where it it going...eventually--Banned Picture Book club. Give a liberal an inch...you know the rest.

" If someone writes and publishes a book about HOW TO MOLEST CHILDREN AND GET THEMBTO LIKE IT".... Do you really believe that a school system should be allowed to have it as reading material for the students?

How do you get from Fry Bread to molesting children? I don't understand.

Fahrenheit 451 was written at a time and place in America, when it was impossible to imagine that the population would now be this dumb.

I remember when they banned Epaminondas. I think they came to their senses though, because I don't think it is banned anymore.

@8:42...YOU'RE GOING BACK TO THE 4TH CENTURY NOW...PRETTY COOL

Not that Epaminondas. The children's book they said was racist.

I don't believe in banning books for adults. But certain books should be banned from schools. We have more than enough brainwashing of our kids. Teachers have a captive audience of malleable young minds for several years. And look what's happening in our universities with professor who are nothing but communists. They may not have figured out how to make students smart and productive, but they can at least make them submissive and obedient. It's all about control then and into the future.

God will decide all, put all your faith in Him, Jesus is coming back! Peace be with you!

If a book is about "How to Rspe Children and get away with it"
...then the school system would have no right to have it on a reading list for students.
From here the discussion is obvious...

The parents in the community should have workshops with the school system on the spectrum of what would be criminal for a book in a school to contain...rape of children and getting away with it is just the center of this..

Maybe we should be blaming the publisher. After all, you can publish your own book, but you can't very well distribute thousands of copies without a willing publisher.

Like many problems, there are no solutions. The age-old choice between good and evil.

It wouldn't hurt, if we had a more enlightened population, but pornography seems to work its way into most markets, whether you support it or not.

Television has been a purveyor of soft porn, for years, but I have not heard much criticism of this medium.

We blame the School system and any teacher that decides it is their job to have young children read criminally inappropriate content. This is very simple. This is what Tar and Feathering is for...I say we bring it back 😁

I say we fire the teachers! But they're protected by the Unions.

I think hanging would have a more immediate effect.

There is no question that parents have to take a more active role in their children's lives. They don't have to hover over them but asking questions would give them some clues to what is going on.

With all of the hype about teachers, what about the big teacher that your kid carries around, morning, noon, and night.

This is the real problem that nobody wants to face: The phone is killing your kid and you are afraid to take it away, because you are afraid of your kid.

Parents are a big part of the problem...kids rule.

That's it in a nutshell Lynn.

Everything else is dancing around the problem.

Bad parenting causes some bad kids...no doubt. That's the luck of your genes.
Bad teachers and bad school boards are an evil we can quickly fix...
In this conflict, Parents are the Good side, School boards and teachers have allowed themselves to be infiltrated with criminals that need to be humiliated, destroyed and left as a cautionary tale. This is the reality with no shades of grey.

Some of the best parents have the worst kids, and vice versa. There is no formula for raising good kids.

This is all generalization. There was recently a case where the parents bought the kid the gun.

No Society can last long without religion. It doesn't have to be your religion, or my religion, but a Supreme Authority that people fear.

The Ancients knew this, but unfortunately, modern man, thought he knew better.
