Yes! High rises on the waterfront! That is what we all need to get behind. What the hell is she talking about?

I understand she claimed "hardship" and couldn't pay the filing fee to run for the Mayor of Lake Worth? How successful is this lady? Do we want another school teacher running our town?

First of all, anonymous @8:43, Ms. Jacques has not yet filed her T-Report. So who leaked out this information on what she paid for filing fees?

Next, you are making an assumption that she could not afford to pay the State of Florida and Lake Worth. You have no idea why she did what she did.

As far as high-rises go, please get out your Merriam-Webster dictionary and look up the word.

I think this poster is really reaching. This stuff is so totally meaningless. Is that all her opponent can find to throw at her? She's already making a huge financial contribution to our society by working on a modest public teacher's salary. Should we really demand our public school teachers pay filing fees to the state in order to run for office? I've known her for awhile and would like your readers to know a few things. As a private citizen, she got street lights installed our on street from Lake to 6th Avenue (which definitely reduced crime), and she worked with her commissioner to ban heavy commercial vehicles from our residential streets (preventing further damage to the roads, which is more than her opponent ever did). Me and my neighbors know what she can do and are supporting her. Instead of sneaking around in the shadows trying to find something to throw at her, perhaps her opponent should have made better use of her time in office.

And on high rises, maybe this poster needed a teacher like Diane Jacques, because if she'd looked up high rise, she'd know that's exactly what Hudson Holdings is about to build.

What does "waterfront" mean?

Pam Lopez is not supposed to interfere but do her job. She didn't do it with the charter amendment and I guess she was the one who told someone that Diane paid a hardship filing fee. the city clerk's job is non-political but in LW, everything, as you say Lynn, is political. Replacement time for her too.

Of course she is going to be bashed with everything the gang of 3 and HH can dream up. Why is $ for a filing fee relevant?? Of course it is-- for the gang of 3 who have proven since 2011 that government CAN BE BOUGHT. Which is exactly another reason why she is more qualified: we can be damn sure she is not working for Hudson Holdings. Unlike Wes Blackman, unlike the gang of 3, unlike Bowtie and his "creative ideas" for secret government and selling off our beach to them, unlike Dirty Szerdi. Excuse me?? When the frigging whopdedo did teaching become a profession to disqualify one from running for a position?? I missed that in any City Ordinance. The fact that they are slinging so much full of crap mud already just proves to me that I am correct in voting for her. Get real: the reason we are hearing all this is because,(gasp)(call out the militia) the gang of 3 is a little bit scared of a little bitty police/producer/teacher who is going to whoop your asses and take back our town from you and your developer deal in the dark cronies. I'm not the only one who noticed Triola getting hot under the collar. She's pissed! How DARE the minions under her rule challenge her developer dynasty??

Doesn't anyone else remember or care to look up the last ITN audio where the "Mayor's little volunteer" who miraculously appeared in the last meeting to save the day states: "I mean whaaat's wrooong with you people...I mean you don't want to be this one lil house in the middle of all these haaah (high) rises, do you?" Even Amoroso comments that HH seems to be holding the Gulfstream "hostage" until they get their private beach club. Can anyone in their right mind doubt that that's going to happen sure as shooting if the gang of 3 gets another 4 years?? They've warned you themselves--

8:43, who are you? How did you get info on a candidate that is not yet public? Someone in city hall needs to be fired. If Ms. Jacques is allowed to claim this filing, and if she did this ,so what? Good on her for not spending money that she did not have to! It's time that we got somebody into office who knows how to pinch pennies and not flush dollars like the gang of three does.
It was plain by the end of the playhouse debate that Pam Triolo was really pissed off. She was literally screaming into the mic in frustration.
Andres Amoroso was getting meaner and meaner as the night went on. If he had had a knife, he would have stabbed his opponent!
Maxwell was just standing there sweating.
Triolo ,Amoroso and Maxwell, you have screwed the people of Lake Worth for far too long. Can you imagine an actual HONEST Commission that wouldn't simper and roll over for every con man drifting into Lake Worth? I'ts about time !

For anon @ 8:43

The school teacher who ran our town replaced a mayor who even one of his staunchest supporters said at a public meeting that was getting too close to Mr. Evans re the sale of that waterfront park.

Marc Drautz always had a witness when he had meetings with developers.

As far as Diane Jacques' filing fee, she will need all her cash on hand to combat in town and out of town developer money to defray their predictable attacks along with those of the local paper. Hudson Holdings will of course join in to keep their favored candidate in office.

Diane, thank you for running and for being so intelligent, experienced, and aware of the reason why the majority of us chose to live in Lake Worth instead of the waterfront, view blocking condo canyons that surround us in South Florida.

ELECT Diane Jacques on March 15 to save Lake Worth!

Great speech, it's all been said before... Anyone who's lived here long enough has seen'em come n go.
The hint about this- the mayor in this town has little to no authority over anyone or anything. The mayor is just a figurehead. The real authority is the commission.
This city government is not a "strong mayor" leads commission, it is instead a commission run government leading the mayor. The real issue is just a vote. Right now there is a majority- maxwell, triolo, Andy and the cm, with mcvoy and maier against.
Do not think for a minute that the mayor has any authority, especially over city employees or departments, that is simply just not true nor legal.
The authority, once again, comes from the commission, to the cm, to the department directors, to the managers, and then to individual employees and others down the chain.
Don't believe the hype that a mayor, in this city, can direct city departments....it simply doesn't work that way. Use your heads folks, don't be fooled by fiery speeches that are not fact based, not from someone who has no idea what they're talking about, has no idea of the way government works or how direction is disseminated.
In contrast to this, in other states and cities the mayor is the leader, this city lake worth, is not that city. This is a part time office only.

This trio commission that includes the mayor, hired the city manager. He reports to them. Don't think for one second that the CM does not carry out their wishes. His job depends upon it.

Anonymous said...

That's exactly what I just stated above Ms. Anderson..

Well said, Lynn. And I disagree that the mayor doesn't have much authority. She and HH have been all to clubby resulting in secret plans to privatize our beach, a huge money grab to spend on their developer friends, and huge sums for grand "visions" she has for Lake Worth. And all this has nothing to do with her?? Get real. She is plenty strong with that gavel and behind the scenes with Bowtie arranging whoknowswhat.

Anonymous said...

As for "don't believe that a mayor in this city can direct departments"; didn't the mayor manage to get her electric turned back on without any upfront payment which is procedure? Like that's not directing the department to do what she wants?? In reality she sure directed the electric department, and against stated policy.

Lynn Anderson said...

Mr. Anonymous at 1:54, that is not exactly what you said.

Thanks whoever it is that exposed the news about the filing fee. You have just given me another very good reason to vote for Diane, because you just exposed more corruption in City Hall. And I'm sure no one knows who could have leaked this information...just like no one knew who got the key for HH to hold it's own news conference in our ballroom. Just how honest is the city clerk's department?? And does it work for the people of Lake Worth--or just for the gang of 3?

Anonymous said...

And just who thought it was a good idea to leak this? I love the "gang of 3" name. I'll call them GOT from now on. It sure looks like they've GOT someone in City Hall in their back pocket. Shame on whoever leaked this. Dirty politics. And if GOT encouraged someone to post this, double shame on them. Run on the issues, not innuendo and character assassination.

And this Gang of Three along with bow tie are the most arrogant and deceptive Commissioners and CM we have had in recent history.

Vote them out of office on March 15th and bring along your family, friends, and neighbors to get the job done.

Yes I do believe that candidates should pay the fees. Seems if you really want the job, that's not too much to ask for. Even for teachers or want to be cops (which she never was despite saying she was a sheriff).

You can always forgo the Starbucks/Dunkin Donuts coffee ritual (@ $5 a piece), heck a month off that diet and she would have had the filing fee.

Not right she didn't pay. Gary did.

Lynn Anderson said...

If you're going to say something here about a candidate or anyone for that matter, make sure that it is accurate. Once again, you wrote erroneous commentary--

Diane worked for the Broward Sheriff's office and wrote speeches and law enforcement articles for law enforcement and general audiences as well as other things. check her bio. http://lynn-a.blogspot.com/2015/12/diane-jacques-candidate-for-mayor-lake_15.html

I did check her bio... But in the debate she indicated she was a sheriff deputy.. She did not say she was a writer for the department. It was misleading to the audience.
