Lake Worth does have a Free Lunch

Comment Up

Tuesday night the "Free Lunch" was placed on the consent Agenda and passed unanimously. This had already passed before but the city forgot something that they deemed very important--they wanted to add the "free lunch" for economic events as well as emergency non-perishable supplies to their already approved free lunch list.

The provision by the City of such food/refreshment is a de minimus cost to the City which is highly beneficial to the City, its officials,employees, its partnerships and its residents; and WHEREAS, in Resolution 06-2014, the City Commission found that providing occasional food/refreshments in the provision of City services and City events/functions serves a valid public purpose and enhances the general welfare of the City and its residents;

Well, bless their hearts. It's a good thing they are not working for a public company where you have to account for spending money on yourself and your stomach as those executives know that they answer to the shareholders. The city, once again, is acting like we are a wealthy city but they keep telling us how poor we are and they need $131 million for potholes. It's got to be job stress that is causing all of these hunger pains.

BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION:
The City, in the course of providing City services, sometimes finds that furnishing refreshments to be an integral part of the function. On January 28, 2014 Commission approved Resolution No. 06-2014, which authorized certain public purpose refreshment purchases; however, the resolution did not include the use of funds to support economic events or the purchase of emergency non-perishable supplies for emergencies. Staff is requesting the list of public purpose for refreshments or for emergencies be amended to include economic events and emergencies.

So at lunch time, pop into city hall and get a slice of that pizza.

Hi "silly"--
I am FOR elected officials to have some common sense and not spend taxpayer money in self-serving ways. Watch the purse strings especially when they are crying poverty and asking the property owners to spend $131 million on potholes.

Anonymous at 10:33 you may not feel this is important them having lunch on you but pennies add up to dollars. This is a corrupt administration. We had this years ago and now we have it back. Go down there and demand your free piece of pizza. You paid for it.

The sad thing is this poster probably doesn't even own land or pay taxes here in this city or county. I agree with Lynn, you cannot trust elected officials, this is wasteful, there is so much waste already in this city, there is waste in what we pay the PBSO, the Fire, the Codes, the Admin, too much waste, and we cannot be expected to now pay more and put our city in such debt.

This is Lynn doing what she does best,making a point and using sarcasm to make it. Great stuff. I plan on dropping by for that slice. If the bond passes, I will drop in every day, maybe with my entire family.

Dear old Chad, one thing we do know is you love the word waste. Now rock your little brain and tell us where the waste is specifically. PBSO?, Fire, Admin, the Codes(whatever you meant by that). Look around at the streets, sidewalks, and curbs they are crumbling.I own a home and property. Now make your own decision instead of "I agree with Lynn". The sad thing is I will probably have to help paying your share. That is a "waste".

Actually, you probably didn't pay for it, since 60% of the city doesn't pay city of LW taxes, but I paid for it and I don't think its a good use of my money.

Staff gets paid very well at LW. They even have a retirement, something I will not be getting as my company doesn't pay that. I have to depend on my 401k. So, why should we be paying for their free shit?
