Why I simply love politicians:
From the December 6, 2011 meeting.
Vice Mayor Maxwell said that it was unfortunate that his request to terminate the City Manager had placed the Mayor in a position to make a fast decision. It was an uncomfortable way to conduct business; however, it had to be done in the public. He apologized to the Mayor and other Commissioners for placing them in this position.
Gee, thanks, Vice Mayor. I will accept your apology at any time you care to give it. I would also like to have you give the rest of the public your reasons for doing this. So far, no reasons have been given other than you were just "uncomfortable."

maxwell felt uncomfortable? Why, because Stanton wouldn`t listen and be controlled by this whimp. The commission should have let her speak at that meeting infront of all the people present before shown the door.Stanton was shafted and it was very disgraceful doing it that way.Stanton should sue the city/commission. maxwell had a vendetta period.
maxwell knew he was pulling a quick one. That is the reason he felt uncomfortable. He should do as good a job as Stanton was doing getting it back on track. He has two strikes against him already.Firing Staton and the idea of the POC development. He doesnt have a clue what he is doing. He wants to be a part of it.His abilty seems to be lacking many things. He should do his homework before speaking or firing someone on something he doesn`t know a thing about.
Vendetta....if he truly had a vendetta he would have laid out a laundry list of reasons why the cm should be fired with cause...the way I see I, he showed restraint and class that was never afforded to him by the cm or previous majority.
The reason why he won't lay out a "laundry" list is because it would be a bunch of dirty innuendos. He would open himself up to a lawsuit.
It's really nice to stick up for Scott but as Dustin would say, "Let's get real."
The simple fact is--He couldn't stand Stanton. You ask him and he will say, well she had the ability, she is smart but it must be a hormone imbalance. We see where he's all coming from--prejudice and the simple fact that he could not move her. He hated her for those things. At the first opportunity and change on the dais, she complied with his wishes. She answers to the commission as a whole, not one individual. She should have done the same thing if given a chance.
She is much better off being away from the crappy politics in this city.
Lynn, when you refer to the first opportunity to change with the new majority, where you referring to the request to take one week to undo the money grab fire assessment that you and most of the city residents are looking for? I believe that request was to be handled at the nov 21 meeting, it still hasn't been done! Stanton insisted it couldn't be done...looks like she really worked hard to honor the new commission direction. Just sayin.
This new Visionary has not stopped the money grab. In fact, tonight they will be voting and putting in place the opportunity to tax us in 2012. We''ll see what they do here.
Stanton DID listen to the new commission. But Pam and Andy listened to Scott more.
waaa waaa waaa waaa
Why do you feel Maxwell should apologize to you?
Maxwell needs to apologize to everyone in this city.
"maxwell felt uncomfortable? Why, because Stanton wouldn`t listen and be controlled by this whimp." EXACTLY ,Richard. You have just given the reasons that Stanton was fired!Stanton WOULDN'T LISTEN and she forgot that the Commission controlled her AND NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!
If we are asking for apologies, ex Mayor Rene Varela tops the list!Hi Rene, can you please send us the 50,000 that your and Ramiccio's little stunt cost the taxpayers of lake Worth?!?
That's the whole point at 11:52. Stanton was allowed to do her job by the commission. If they had any problem with policy issues, they should have said so. The commission does NOT run this city, the city manager does. The Commission is who you look to if you don't like something going on. I don't recall one instance that the commission told her to do something and she didn't do it. Not one. They met with her for 2 hours every week for gosh sakes. Get over it. It was a wrong decision to fire someone with her ability. Flat bad politics. This city does not evolve around 3 people who can't lead an employee. She was just too strong for them.
