It's the People's Fault

Comment Up
It's always someone else's fault

In our case, property values fell to a record level of 47% over two years. This past year it was reported that property values fell 3.57%. Why then are we getting huge tax increases and special assessments this year? Did you do this to yourself? We know that the City has to pay for services. However, it does not have to pay for 60% of the capital improvements in this year's budget. Does it? It doesn't have to create funky ways of taxing people. Does it? It doesn't have to pay for ridiculous Union retirement plans, does it? Yes it does.

Does the City Manager own property in Lake Worth? Does she have to pay any taxes? I hope she pays a lot of federal taxes at least to support all the illegals and their babies here. She seems very greedy, not even considering taking a pay cut herself yet wanting to tax all of us, event he poor and old. I am not so sure she really has the cities interest and people at heart. It is all about her greed, power, and control. She did the same in Largo and she is likely not going to change here. If she had to pay all the taxes and assessments we have to pay on our measly $30K or $50 a year she couldn't do it without stopping buying so many shoes.

Great art work & understand the point. However as a musher that spends every penny on my dogs & knows thousands of other mushers personally, that have sacrificed all of life's luxuries for their dogs, many of which most city goers consider essentials (like a flushing toilet & electricity), putting the dog food bill as the 1st bill to pay, above human food. Every dog musher I know, has taken up the "call of the wild" to live a life away from materialistic power thirsty people hood winked by the obsession with the pot of gold a the end of the rainbow, mushers choose the "prize" as the beauty of the rainbow itself. Dogs & their mushers are one of the purest personifications of teamwork on the planet, putting their lives in each others hands, simply to answer the wilderness call. I don't know a musher alive that uses a whip, that belongs to the prospectors of a hundred years ago, that only saw a "hostile wilderness" while looting its gold. So to put a dog musher into the same category as bankers, those responsible for the current economical crisis, those that only work for themselves, for greed; are people that mushers are in total paradox too. So although great artwork & I understand your need to illustrate your anger & frustration at your government. I don't often stray into the world of bad news & email & rarely respond. I choose a life of apparent "western poverty" & feel like one of the richest people alive. But your cartoon, to be compared to a banker, politician, those that I don't understand, is the greatest insult I've ever had in my life!!

Sorry Mel--no insult intended for all you "mushers." This cartoon, and you would have to live in Lake Worth, Florida, was to show that the city manager is leading the commission and her staff and whipping them to her will to go forward with her goals. It had nothing whatsoever to do with dogs, not in reality. Besides, the "musher" is smiling.

Thanks for writing.
