This is how we fund the bulk of our charitable programs in District 14. These include but are not limited to our toy giveaway (400 toys), LegoLand Anti-Gang program and the Anti-bullying program. We are trying to double enrollment in the anti-gang and bullying programs this year.

Union Reps negotiate with the City of Lake Worth on raises

Nick Petrino, one of our code enforcement officers who will have been with the city 10 years in October, was on the "hot seat." He will be keeping his job after all. The decision was made at 9:20 this morning. The City must have realized that the charges were not strong enough and/or unproven. We need Nick and more employees like him: hard-working and dedicated to doing the best job each and every day.

Immediately following the above, the Union Negotiating Committee met and discussed raises only for 2016/2017. The Pension discussions were put on the back burner in order for the city to concentrate 1) on the budget and 2) merit raises. Merit raises will be discussed in the month of March 2017. The Union Reps and the City agreed to a two year 4% raise for those in the PMU and PMSA.

The Employee Liability is $38,601,258.00 or 333.06% percentage of covered employee payroll.

Palm Beach Shooting Center

Palm Beach Shooting Center is located on Industrial Street in Lake Worth. It has classes for all levels from the complete beginner or someone looking to learn how to defend himself to the shooting expert.

Monday night a group of family and friends went to the Palm Beach Shooting Center to take a course for a concealed weapons license. Crime is escalating in our country and in Lake Worth it's out of control. Recently in my community a criminal entered an elderly woman's condo while she was sitting on her couch.  The door was locked but he still managed to get inside. If she had a gun, she would have been justified in the kill.

We were there for a Concealed Weapons License. This is a basic course that covers, firearms safety, your legal responsibility and Florida law requirements. One topic it touched upon was Stand Your Ground, the very controversial law in the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin case.  If you recall, Zimmerman fatally shot Martin in Sanford, Florida and the following year, he was acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter. The instructor said that Florida had the best gun laws in the country.

We have always had racial tensions but they have been worse under Obama. I believe it was the Zimmerman case that started the escalation of the violence towards authority and whites today. The Department of Justice hounded Zimmerman for three years. They investigated him on civil rights charges and concluded there was insufficient evidence and there was no "hate crime."

Zimmerman criticized the government and President Obama. He believed Obama inflamed racial tensions. "He by far overstretched, overreached, even broke the law in certain aspects to where you have an innocent American being prosecuted by the federal government," Zimmerman said. General Obligation Bond to be on November ballot

Last night WPEC Channel 12 was at our city commission meeting for the General Obligation Bond issue that was on the Consent Agenda.  Who alerted them is the mystery as even PBSO was told of a possible demonstration that never happened.

The mayor ignored Commissioner McVoy and refused to allow him to pull the item for discussion, and once again, he was shut down and bullied right along with the city property owners who will be paying for it all.

As said last night, we all want our roads fixed; we just want input and we want to know the details--what it will really cost when it is all said and done in 30 years and all pertinent details.  This general obligation bond is not the same one of two years ago.  The people have the right to express opinions and get answers.  After all, it is their money. Commissioner McVoy was the only dissenter.

Referendum for General Obligation Bond

As everyone has been told, the time for talking is over. Tonight on Consent Agenda, the city commission has placed a new bond in the amount of $40 million dollars for 30 years on Consent Agenda in order to place it on the ballot this November.

There will be no discussion on this extremely important item that will put every property owner in debt unless someone pulls it for discussion. The public basically will be left in the dark and discounted as unimportant. Nothing new.

Florida League of Cities Annual Conference

The Florida League of Cities is having its 90th Annual conference and the city commission will be voting for a delegate to attend.  At least it's in state. Normally, Scott Maxwell is the delegate and he will get to network with other Leaguers at the Diplomat Resort in Hollywood, Florida if he is chosen at tonight's city commission meeting. Not too shabby.

Registration is $525, hotel is $182 a night and there is a charge for parking or valet.

This majority commission wants three year terms.  They don't want to entertain the possibility of giving up all those free lunches and perks earlier than necessary.  It's such a drag to get out there and campaign. And they want to ensure themselves more time in office in order to dream up ways to tax you.

Obama gave Executive Order on Martial Law

This order gives the president broader powers than ever before to be enacted in a few weeks. AllNewPipipeLine.com says: Do we really think that Mr. Obama and the 'New World Order' will simply give this all up when they have been working to destroy America and eliminate our national sovereignty for years? The global elitists have been spending trillions of dollars to implement their global dictatorship, and now even folks such as John Kerry are openly talking about it...a 'borderless world'...when will they tell America of this 'brave, new world', when it's already too late to change?

Obama quietly signed the order late on a Friday evening called the National Defense Resources Preparedness Executive Order which puts our nation in a permanent state of martial law that only needs to be activated by the President, whenever he should so choose to do so.--even peace time.

Actually, we want to be in office for life. 

Eat Dirt!

It's unbelievable--not only do we have a 30 year bond referendum for $40 million on the Consent Agenda with NO public input, these commissioners now want three year terms.  Didn't they just read the survey where the respondents gave them a 13% very favorable rating? It's bad enough with two year terms. Look at all the damage they do and now they want to be royalty for life. Is this even legal? We all voted them into office for a two year term to end on a specified date.

We have to continually vote for things over and over again.  They are never satisfied with the results. Now they will raise money and put out press releases telling all of us why this would be such a great idea...they will tell us that it will give them more time to focus on important things in Lake Worth instead of campaigning which is hot, dirty work...just dreaming up hit pieces is exhausting. Yeah, we see how the slum, blight and crime has improved. It's really too bad that they have to go out and raise tons of money every two years and hit their special interests for big donations when they never, ever talk to their constituents during their terms.

We just had a referendum eight years ago on this very subject and the voters rejected it. Instead, I would prefer term limits...get these bums out of office every 4 years.

BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION:
The Ordinance authorizes placing a question on the November ballot. If approved by the voters, the terms for Commissioners from Districts 2 and 4 will be three years commencing in March 2017. The terms for Mayor and Commissioners from Districts 1 and 3 will be three years commencing in March 2016.

Religious Liberty

Without religious liberty, all freedom is doomed. It was the very basis for the founding of this country. The issue is whether religious freedom – the very basis for the settling of America and the foundation for the republic in which we live – will have to take a permanent backseat to bogus “non-discrimination” laws. It’s just that simple, says WND.
