"From its humble beginnings to a destination beloved by locals and visited by scores of celebrities, Benny's on the Beach in Lake Worth Beach is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Not content with a single day, cake and candles, the wildly popular restaurant that pretty much defines "waterfront dining" is offering specials all month, complete with formerly retired menu items and pricing. On top of that, they've planned a three-day soirée, running Friday, July 24, Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26, to ring in the milestone.

Situated on the William O. Lockhardt Pier with unparalleled ocean views, Benny's on the Beach started from pretty modest origins. Before officially becoming Benny's in 1986, the site served items like hot dogs and pizza, according to Historical Society of Lake Worth board member Judy Reed.

Whether you're the crustiest (in a good way) "L-Dub" local who's surfed or fished the pier your entire life or a jet-setting superstar, Benny's on the Beach is designed for everyone and has become one of the hottest destinations in South Florida.
