Andy Amoroso, suffered a devastating stroke on Thursday night, June 16th, 2026, while alone in his Lake Worth Beach apartment
Unable to call for help for over 12 hours, Andy missed the critical "golden hour" for medical attention, which has left him with significant damage and limited movement on his left side. The hope is that with dedicated physical therapy, Andy can regain the use of his left side and work toward recovery.Andy is a beloved figure in Lake Worth Beach, known for his generosity, humor, and commitment to the community. Over the past 30 years, he has owned several businesses and served as City Commissioner (Vice-Mayor) for more than a decade. His current business, "The Tacky Tourist," is a staple on Lake Ave., reflecting Andy’s fun-loving and whimsical spirit.
As a small business owner, Andy faces a unique challenge: if his store isn’t open, he isn’t earning income to cover his rent, mortgage, and bills. This makes his recovery even more difficult, as he needs support to manage his living expenses while focusing on healing.
Andy has always given so much of himself to others, whether through his work, his leadership, or his kindness. Now, in his time of need, Tracie and the family are asking for help from the community Andy has served so faithfully. If he began Hyperbaric Oxygen treatments in the next week, there is a strong liklihood he could recover close to 100% of his former fitness/neuromuscular functioning. It is about $100 per hour session in DelRay Beach at a good clinic there...so cost is in reach if a group forms to help him....For chronic or subacute stroke patients, HBOT protocols in published clinical trials typically range from 40 to 80 sessions, with the strongest neurological improvements appearing after ~40 sessions and continuing up to 60+ sessions.
For someone like Andy — ~60ish years old, left‑sided deficits, long delay before treatment — the research suggests 40 sessions is the minimum threshold, and 60 sessions is the more realistic target for meaningful functional recovery.
A stroke? This is just awful news.
We are praying for him and praying that he can recuperate and get his life back! Anything like this is very sad to read and hear about and we are praying for him.
