An Art Deco aficionado picks the coolest historic buildings in Palm Beach County

The love for Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern aesthetics runs so deep that the world’s most hardcore fans make elaborate plans to gather every other year to tour the places that preserve and celebrate the movement’s sleek signature architecture.

This globetrotting affair has its roots in Miami, where the first Art Deco World Congress convened in 1991, drawing hundreds of people.

For the first time since then, the biennial event is returning to Florida. And guess what? The Lake Worth Playhouse is listed in his top 12...(Art Deco — Clarence and Lucien Oakley, 1924)

This is a joke right? The exterior of the playhouse looks 3rd world trash everywhere, peeling paint, dirty windows and the interior looks like it’s been inhabited by squatters!
Where is code enforcement? Who runs this dump?
