Florida--Early Voting and Vote By Mail

News from Florida Recap

The final early-in-person and vote-by-mail ballots are in, with Florida Republicans leading Democrats by a comfy 321,000 ballot margin. That's down from Saturday's lead of 337,000 ballots after Democrats made a final statewide push with a "Souls to the Polls" voter drive on Sunday. But the effort yielded a net gain of only 16,000 ballots.

On this day four years ago, it was Democrats who held a lead of 31,641 ballots, but Republicans carried Election Day and won 4 of 5 statewide races.

More bad news for Democrats? Late-day thunderstorms are expected Tuesday afternoon from Orlando to Miami as the outer bands of a subtropical storm near the Bahamas threatens to swamp key Democrat strongholds and suppress turnout even further.

In other news, a previously dismissed lawsuit against Florida’s new parental rights law has been refiled, making changes that include arguments that the law is unconstitutional and “chills” First Amendment rights, violates due-process and tramples equal protection rights.
