Sen Jeff Clemens says 70mph not fast enough

Comment Up

Sen Jeff Clemens wants to raise the speed limit--70 mph is not fast enough for him.

State Sen. Jeff Brandes, R-St. Petersburg, tells WTSP he'll file legislation Tuesday with State Sen. Jeff Clemens, D-Lake Worth, that would increase the maximum speed limit on Florida's interstates from 70 miles per hour (mph) to 75 mph. Brandes and Clemens argued opposing sides of 10 News' red light camera safety investigations earlier this year. Clemens likes red light cameras if you recall.

Read more... about Clemen's latest scheme. “When speed limits go up, people go faster, and eventually that results in more crashes and more deaths,” said Anne McCartt, senior vice president for research at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Let's hope he's not driving that fast after smoking medical marijuana or all speed limit signs will look a little fuzzy like the one above.
