Palm Beach County Crime Stats

Comment Up

County crime dips 6th straight year but not in Lake Worth. We had a rise, but we knew that! We are neck in neck with South Bay. Even the governor is raving about crime down by nearly 5%.

My chances of becoming a victim of violent crime in Lake Worth: 1 in 88. Click here.

We are the 58th most dangerous city in the country.

Crime stats toward gays in they USA are still high, a lot of hate crimes. We have them here in this county too and in FL.

Go to the new exhibition at the FAU Jupiter Campus by the Student Group Spectrum, they have put on a big display of all gays who have been murdered recently through the US due to being gay, the have the outline of a body in chalk on the ground with a memorial of that person, they have them all over, it is so touching.

The stats and memorial are shocking, more needs to be done to stop all this crime and hate.

Actually it was published today that Riviera Beach is the 20th most dangerous city in the USA and No. 1 in Florida. This is in our county, so not good for Florida, you would think it would be more like Miami. See below, our area is very dangerous, Lake Worth is bad.

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. —A national organization has ranked Riviera Beach 20th on its list of most dangerous cities in the United States.

Riviera Beach officials, however, said they believe the statistics used by Neighborhood Scout are false.

Neighborhood Scout published the list on its website, saying 16 out of every 1,000 residents in Riviera Beach are victims of violent crime. That's four times the national average.

Also, 60 out of every thousand Riviera Beach residents are victims of property crime, which is about double the national average.

"What in the heck did I get myself into when I moved down here thinking this was going to be paradise?" resident George Mayo said.

Mayo's Riviera Beach home was broken into twice in two weeks in June.

Mayo installed a house alarm to protect his family and is not happy about it.

"I hate that because that instills paranoia on you," he said.

Mayo said he wasn't surprised to see Riviera Beach ranked the 20th most dangerous city in the U.S. and the most dangerous city in Florida.

However, city officials in Riviera Beach said the numbers used by Neighborhood Scout are false.

Riviera Beach Police Department spokeswoman Rose Ann Brown said she believes Neighborhood Scout included crimes from outside city limits, inflating the statistics attributed to Riviera Beach.

Riviera Beach's crime rate has decreased steadily over the last six years, according to Brown.

This commission hasn't made any headway in reducing crime.
