PBSO in Manalapan?

Comment Up
Concerned about escalating crime, Manalapan is considering PBSO services for its public safety and giving up its own police department.

Manalapan is getting the same line that Lake Worth did: Sheriff’s Maj. Dan Smith said the town’s acting police chief, Carmen Mattox, would become a sheriff’s lieutenant and his eight officers would become deputies. “The uniforms change, but the law enforcement staff is going to stay the same,” he said.

A few vocal residents are speaking out against crime and think a change would benefit their town. They have the same perception of the Sheriff that Lake Worth residents have. However, there are others who say: “The proposal says we’re not giving up any local control. We certainly are giving up local control... I don’t buy that for a minute,” resident Bill Gerrish said.

“A $200,000 difference does not affect this community,” said Sylvia Rogers. “Financially we can afford it (keeping their own police department).”

They're going to get the same officers who they don't think are good enough right now? Yup. It is exactly the same.

Maybe they can get Mary Lindsey to organize a protest to make sure that they get the Sheriff down there and lose total control of policing and costs. Good work, loud mouth in Manalapan who got robbed. It's all about you.
