Duck killed on Lake Osborne
Comment Up This Mother Muscovy was just run over by a car on Lake Osborne Drive. Something must be done about the speeding on this road. Where is the Sheriff?

Maybe there should be a Dream Act for Lake Osborn Muscovys.
From Wikipedia; The Muscovy Duck (Cairina moschata) is a large duck which is native to Mexico and Central and South America.
In the US, Muscovy Ducks are considered an invasive species. An owner may raise them for food production only (not for hunting). Similarly, if the ducks have no owner, 50CFR Part 21 allows the removal or destruction of the Muscovy ducks, their eggs and nests anywhere in the United States outside of Hidalgo, Starr, and Zapata counties in Texas where they are considered indigenous.
Legal methods to restrict breeding include not feeding these ducks, deterring them with noise or by chasing, and finding nests and vigorously shaking the eggs to render them non-viable. Returning the eggs to the nest will avoid re-laying as the female would if the clutch were removed.
Recent legislation in the USA prohibits trading of Muscovy Ducks and plans for eradication are in order to solve nuisance problems
A few days ago you were moaning about the PBSO trying to catch speeders on Lake and Lucerne. Now an invasive species is hit in your neighborhood and your crying where is the PBSO!
There was no moaning--just pointing out that the PBSO was going to have its presence known in town since their contract is up. So twist it as you choose. And, give me a solution on how to make up the $3 mil, not just this year but every year going forward.
It's really sad that an innocent animal was killed. I hope that the babies are old enough to survive on their own. People do speed way too fast around the Lake.

Perhaps the next time a driver is speeding it will be a human being. Would that turn you on?
