Clay Lindstrom, Lake Worth Electric Utility Director submits resignation

Comment Up

Back even in 2012, Clay Lindstrom was looking for another job and was one of the finalists in Lakeland for the position of Utilities Director. Lakeland is a member of the Florida Municipal Power Agency. Now we have heard that he will be working as Director of Utilities in Ft. Pierce (unconfirmed) and has submitted his resignation letter to Lake Worth (confirmed).

Driver loses control in ROLOH neighborhood

As a property owner, most homeowners who actually live in their houses strive hard to ensure that their property is well maintained and that their yards are looking good. You have no control over some idiot who runs off the road onto your yard leaving tire indents so big that grass and dirt will have to be replaced. And of course, the driver left no note--never came back the next day. These are the times in which we live.

Call your Senator Now

Message from NumbersUSA:

The Senate has its first vote today on the DHS funding bill. If enough Senators vote "YES" today, it will be the first step in defunding President Obama's executive actions. The vote comes up in two hours.

These moves by the President will give work permits to 5 million illegal aliens at a time when 18 million Americans cannot find a full time job. This is unacceptable and we must do all we can to stop it.

Let's light up Twitter today with thousands of Senate Republicans must stick to the promises they made to voters in 2014 to fully defund Obama's executive amnesties. There were a dozen or so Senate Democrats who spoke against the actions on the campaign trail last year also. They need to vote for the American worker today, not stand by these lawless actions.

Tell Senators to vote YES on today's vote that would allow the House-passed version of the DHS funding bill, H.R.240, to come to the Senate floor!

FL Sen John Legg and Common Core

Comment Up

Kids aren't learning as much today.  In fact, they are clueless about our Founding Fathers and all our wonderful history. Civics is not taught much.  Ever watch Watters World?  OMG. They are not taught anything prior to 1865 and our history is lost.  Reading, writing and arithmetic, forget about it.  Creative writing, what's that?

A Federal effort to seize control of education, Common Core, is nothing more than Agenda 21. It is nothing more than socialized education.

Katie McGiveron says, "When two and two don't equal four, I don't like Common Core."

Sen. John Legg, R-Lutz, wants to reduce standardized testing in Florida -- and he’s filed a bill in the Senate to make it happen. I remember when I was in school.  We had tests all of the time.  How else would a teacher know if we were learning anything? We had three hours of homework every night. Kids today don't even bring home a book...except for the really smart kids, one of whom is Katie McGiveron's daughter who is in the top 10 in her class at Forest Hill and just got a $2,000 a semester scholarship to the college of her choice. When talking to one of the seniors there about students in general, the statement made was "Boy are they dumb."

Last year, SB 1316 died in the Senate which essentially tried to prohibit the State Board of Education from continuing to implement the Common Core standards until certain requirements were met.

On Monday, Legg filed SB 616.  According to Sunshine News, this bill would offer flexibility to school districts that are struggling with the transition to Common Core which is socialized education. If passed, Legg’s bill would limit the amount of time a school district can administer standardized tests to its students. Under the bill, a district may not schedule more than 5 percent of total school hours to give tests. If the district requires more than 5 percent of school hours to administer the tests, it must get written consent from parents before giving the test.
Can you even imagine that--permission from parents for little Johnnie and Suzie to be subjected to more tests? Poor little kids...some parents have said their kids are under emotional stress from taking so many tests and have to take medication--that they no longer like going to school. Well why would they?  They are being tested to see if they are learning anything and don't want to be known as stupid.  It's no wonder they aren't passing but you wouldn't know that if you looked at the school grade stats.

"Obama bypassed Congress since he already had the stimulus He went straight to the governors with a bribe of $4.35 billion. The governors had to compete for the money - making it appear like a badge of honor if they won. They only had 2 months to sign on during a time when most State legislatures were not in session." The free market works when it's allowed to.  A few years ago Rick Scott said, the Federal government has no constitutional authority to unilaterally set academic standards for Florida, nor any authority to unilaterally direct local school board decisions on curriculum and instruction.

General Bill   by Legg
Education Accountability: Revising requirements for the administration of local assessments; revising the percentage thresholds for performance evaluation criteria for instructional personnel and school administrators; authorizing a school district to request approval from the state board to use student performance results on new statewide assessments for diagnostic and baseline purposes, etc.
Effective Date: Upon becoming a law

Greenacres vs. Lake Worth

“To our residents, public safety is the most important issue.”

~ Samuel Ferreri
Ferreri is mayor of Greenacres seeking a 14th term.

Greenacres has similar demographics to ours and we are always wondering how they do it better--they even have their own police force and fire department where they can manage costs.  They don't have a Utility where they can take $9 million a year to help operate its city. They seem to be able to manage their city and don't have to outsource it all. Their web site is excellent.

    Waivers for Pavers

    Comment Up

A lot of people do it--asking the city for waivers to "do their own thing."  This happens all of the time.  Rules are made to be "broken" or definitely flexible.  You give a waiver to one person; you give the same sort of waiver to everyone who follows that should ask, otherwise the city opens itself up to a law suit of which they are deathly afraid.

Per the City Code, Section 19-26(d), all driveway approaches and walkways are to be constructed of six inch concrete unless a variance stating otherwise is allowed by the Building Official which has been provided in the case that comes before the commission tomorrow night. Based on the requirements, Public Services Staff does not recommend approval of pavers because it is not financially beneficial to the City due to the required maintenance over the life of the paver section.

On the consent agenda is a property owner asking for a Variance.  The city will sign an Agreement with Michael Paul Lewis to allow brick pavers on a driveway, walkway and City right-of-way at 516 North L Street.

This house at 728 N. Lakeside recently was given a waiver for the exact same thing. What happens when the curb crumbles?  Will he run to commissioner Szerdi for help?

Benghazi and weapons and Obama changing sides?

The Obama White House and the State Department under the management of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton “changed sides in the war on terror” in 2011 by implementing a policy of facilitating the delivery of weapons to the al-Qaida-dominated rebel militias in Libya attempting to oust Moammar Gadhafi from power, the Citizens Commission on Benghazi concluded in its interim report.

    Read about it...

This article explains why Chris Stevens was there and why the "attack (in Benghazi) basically shed the light on this operation that Obama, the State Department and the CIA were trying to keep quiet."  Benghazi was a base for illegal arms shipments to Syria.

West Palm Beach commissioners endorse butchering murderer

    Letters to the Editor
    Palm Beach Post
    January 29, 2015

City officials show lack of consideration

How low will West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio and three of the city commissioners stoop for a few votes?
The mayor, Kimberly Mitchell, Shanon Materio and Keith James lobbied the New York State Parole Board for the release of a murderer who used crack, had a long criminal record and was described by the presiding judge as “a deadly piece of work” (“Officials’ letters: Parole killer,” Jan. 21).

Good for us citizens that the parole board had our best interests in mind and denied parole, citing “the heinous brutal nature” of the murder and that “you expressed little remorse for the victim.”

The Post article questioned whether there was an ethics violation. Ethics? How about lack of trust, common sense and consideration for the taxpayers city officials are supposed to represent? Members of this group are wasting their “talent” in West Palm Beach; they should be in Washington.

Editor's Note.  Today there was another citizen who wrote a Letter to the Editor who was outraged by the actions of these commissioners and public officials.   All of these people need to be VOTED OUT of office.

Does Obama know who the enemy is?

The Muslim Brotherhood called for “a long, uncompromising jihad” in Egypt just days after a delegation of the Islamist group’s key leaders and allies met with the State Department, according to an official statement released this week and released an official statement calling on its supporters to “prepare” for jihad, according to an independent translation of the statement first posted on Tuesday.

The State Department meeting was attended by a deputy assistant secretary for democracy, human rights, and labor and other State Department officials.

The Muslim Brotherhood statement also was issued just two days before a major terror attack Thursday in Egypt’s lawless Sinai region that killed at least 25. Read about it... at the Washington  Free Beacon.

E-Cigarettes declared a health threat in California

    Comment Up

Now this is really going to give Dylan Harrison, e-cigarette businessman in our downtown, some consternation--
The State of California just declared e-cigarettes a health threat. California is the leader on social issues.  Watch this policy spread like a California wildfire.

    Highlights of the report include:
    • Exposure to nicotine during adolescence can harm brain development.
    • E-cigarettes do not emit a harmless water vapor, but an aerosol that has been found to contain at least 10 chemicals that are on California’s Proposition 65 list of chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.
    • E-cigarettes are not FDA-approved cessation aids.
    • Between 2011 and 2013, e-cigarette advertising jumped more than 1,200 percent and used marketing tactics to appeal to youth. Those tactics include the use of cartoon characters which is prohibited in traditional cigarette advertising.

    An Act of Treason

    Comment Up

This is what's happening to our country.  We are consumed by criminals and this administration, along with Jeb Bush, says that it's an "act of love."

There is no love among the one thousand of the 36,000 illegal immigrant criminals the government released in 2013 who have gone on to commit other crimes, including child sex abuse, hit-and-run and child cruelty, according to new data released Friday evening by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley. The information, which the Homeland Security Department provided to Mr. Grassley, details all 1,000 convictions including dozens of drunk-driving convictions, drug offenses and weapons convictions. But the more serious crimes include domestic abuse, carjacking and aggravated assaultRead more... at The Washington Times

According to the center for Immigration Studies, the document reveals that the 36,007 convicted criminal aliens freed from ICE custody in many instances had multiple convictions. Among them, the 36,007 had nearly 88,000 convictions, including:
    • 193 homicide convictions (including one willful killing of a public official with gun)
    • 426 sexual assault convictions
    • 303 kidnapping convictions
    • 1,075 aggravated assault convictions
    • 1,160 stolen vehicle convictions
    • 9,187 dangerous drug convictions
    • 16,070 drunk or drugged driving convictions
    • 303 flight escape convictions
And we should never forget the cost to jail these illegal alien criminals: $21.813 billion over the last 7 years.

West Palm Beach Commission -Development is their vision

    Comment Up

As West Palm Beach commissioners have been in the news lately for wanting a convicted butchering murderer out on parole by slinging around their influence as elected officials, I wanted to again draw your attention to their decision, one of several, where they approved Rybovich in excess of 2 - 3 times the allowable density. Its negative impacts will damage the surrounding community. But they don't worry about that. They don't worry about the surrounding neighborhoods or any property owner who spoke against what they did and their abuse of power. They don't worry about our waterfront. What do they concern themselves with?  Campaign donations?  Wealthy contributors? More advalorem? It isn't Joe Citizen. It isn't our beautiful waterfront. They worship pavement.

"Here’s the bottom line. They kill Americans, they’re terrorists. They kill schoolchildren, they’re terrorists. and just yesterday, this so-called armed insurgency, the Taliban, proudly took credit for killing three Americans, and you (Obama) want to call them armed insurgents? So I say to myself, ‘what difference does it make?’ Here’s the difference. Since you did negotiate with terrorists and you’re not supposed to negotiate with terrorists, you can’t call them terrorists, so now you have to call them armed insurgents.”
