It wasn't Conan's fault. No one knows how to deal with a mentally disturbed person other than a professional and sometimes they can't help either. The Reiners continued to invite Nick to activities to show that they still cared and didn't want him left alone.

Conan couldn't prevent them from calling. Conan; should have prevented them from having the idiot in his house to begin with.
Conan understood why the Reiners didn't want to leave their son alone and obviously didn't want to make a scene and upset his friends. Who knew this guy was going to muder his parents? Who would ever expect that?
It happens all the time. You just don't get around enough.
Why wouldn't they want to leave their son alone. He was almost 40 years old. They had a lot of money. They should have paid for him to be hospitalized in a private institution. They knew he was nuts.

Their reason was that they underestimated the damage that drugs do to your brain. They also overestimated their ability to help him. This is a problem that nobody wants to confront, but it's not the first time something like this has happened, and it won't be the last. Trump needs to put his builder skills to work building maximum security mental institutions. There will be no problem filling them up!

You don't have to beat your child to impose discipline. That is, or was the puritan ethic, I know, but I don't think it's from the bible. I think moving to Greenland would be effective. This country is no place to raise kids.
Stop thinking so literally, remember Jesus used parables. Discipline and law and order are necessary in a human society.
