FAA extends flight restrictions over Mar-A-Lago

FAA extends Mar-a-Lago flight restrictions until December 2026 amid Palm Beach County lawsuit

In a move with major implications for pilots, Palm Beach County and the ongoing legal battle over airspace — the Federal Aviation Administration has issued a new letter that formally resets and extends flight restrictions around Mar-a-Lago for another full year, effective Dec. 10, 2025.

The letter, sent Wednesday by Palm Beach Air Traffic Manager Mark Siviglia and obtained by WPTV’s Michael Hoffman, outlines a set of temporary flight restriction-driven procedural amendments for Palm Beach International Airport (PBI).

While many of the operating limits were already in place under the year-round flight restriction activated on Oct. 20, this letter establishes a new one-year timeframe—now stretching to Dec. 10, 2026.

This directly contradicts earlier understanding that the restrictions would expire one year from their October activation. Instead, the FAA’s new directive effectively “resets the clock” as of Dec. 10.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the FAA’s new letter is viewed internally as a direct response to Palm Beach County’s decision to move forward with litigation against both the FAA and the U.S. Secret Service, regarding the impact of the Mar-a-Lago flight restrictions on airport operations and local businesses.

The issuance of the letter appears to formalize the procedures while the case proceeds.

My friends tell me there are hundreds of aircraft that are flying over her house EVERY DAY that never used to because of the Secret Service restrictions. Even when he isn't home, aircraft are diverted over their house. They are miserable and she tells me the neighborhood is so upset. Trump has been trying to get the aircraft away from his place for years in the courts and I guess he finally succeeded.

Bo Hoo, they fly over my condo daily from Lantana Airport. People love to get upset.

We all have hundreds of planes flying over our houses here every single day!

@4:12...where is "here?"

My Finnish neighbor's aunt used to be live-in help there, when it belonged to Marjorie Merriweather Post. The building itself never appealed to me, but I imagine the grounds and the interior are spectacular. Post was at least as flamboyant as Trump. Airplane traffic was not a problem in those days.

I'm surprised that so many people in Palm Beach County have so many large commercial jet aircraft flying low over their homes. Maybe it's a county wide thing and my friend is overreacting. Also, I had no idea that Airbus 300s and Boeing 737s use Lantana! OMG! How does anyone sleep?

@6:21...I guess that is your humor. Did I say what type of aircraft was flying from Lantana Airport? Boeings? That's rich. Obvously you know there are light planes and a few small jets there. So, OMG yourself.

Didn't Mohammed Atta learn to fly there?

People are complaining about 737's and A300s departing Palm Beach Intl and flying over their homes. It's not about Cessnas or Pipers or even Learjets. There's a difference, you know.

@9:08...no kidding. People complain and when it happens to be about our President, the complaints intensify. Noise is noise and I doubt seriously that aircraft flight patterns are always over Palm Beach Island, the spoiled eilite.

There's lots of people out there today doing and saying things just to be asshats. Trump is just doing his part here. It's a sad state of affairs.

I agree the negativity and hate is sad to see and read about here, a lot of people are godless.
