Federal Judge Orders Trial for NJ Representative Over ICE Facility Clash

Hold onto your hats, folks—a federal judge has just dropped a bombshell ruling that could shake up the political landscape in New Jersey.

On Thursday, November 13, 2025, U.S. District Judge Jamel Semper decided that Democratic Representative LaMonica McIver must stand trial for allegedly assaulting federal law enforcement officers during a heated confrontation at an immigration detention center in Newark, as Breitbart reports.

Let’s rewind to May 9, 2025, when this drama kicked off at the Delaney Hall ICE detention facility. McIver, alongside fellow Democratic Representatives Bonnie Watson Coleman and Robert Menendez, plus Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, showed up at the facility claiming to conduct what they called “federal oversight.”

Things quickly spiraled as the group allegedly pushed their way into the facility, crossing into trespassing territory.

After a thorough investigation by Homeland Security Investigations, including a review of video evidence, federal prosecutors found enough to indict her on three serious counts.

Two of those charges could land her up to eight years behind bars, while the third carries a maximum of one year—hardly a slap on the wrist.
