90 day Pause on Reciprocal Tariffs

Trump Announces 90-Day Pause on Reciprocal Tariffs, Raises Levy on China

China will now face a 125 percent tariff, the president announced

President Donald Trump announced on April 9 that he is pausing for 90 days reciprocal tariffs that went into effect earlier in the day, while at the same time raising rates for China.

In a statement posted on social media, Trump said he is suspending reciprocal tariffs that he first announced on April 2—which he dubbed “Liberation Day”—while maintaining a 10 percent baseline tariff across the board.

The president said that more than 75 countries have responded to his tariffs with diplomatic overtures rather than countermeasures, noting that these nations “have not ... retaliated in any way, shape, or form against the United States.”

The Chinese regime, Trump said, showed a “lack of respect” to the world and the United States in how it treats trade. The president announced that he is raising cumulative tariffs on Chinese products to 125 percent from 104 percent. The action followed China’s latest tariff hike, which raised duties on U.S. goods to 84 percent.

"U.S. egg prices increased again last month to reach a new record high of $6.23 per dozen despite President Donald Trump’s predictions, a drop in wholesale prices and no egg farms having bird flu outbreaks."

From the NBC story...had you read it.

"University of Arkansas agricultural economist Jada Thompson said the wholesale prices did not start dropping until mid-March, so there may not have been enough time for the average price for the month to decline even though prices started to fall at the end of the month. And grocery stores may not have immediately passed on the lower prices."

The NBC story was talking about the *monthly* average and you cited a story that was talking about a *weekly* price.

FTR, I'm glad prices came down at the end of the month. It brought down the record high for the month a little bit.

Democrats are really hung up on egg prices. Get over it. So stupid.

@4:25...I get a kick out of your condescending remarks. Anything you want to say about the stock market today? For someone who probably owns zero stock. :)
