Mexican nationals arrested with jaw-dropping amount of ammo
Two Mexican nationals, here on temporary visas, were arrested during a routine traffic stop in Colorado last month while transporting a staggering 180,000 rounds of ammunition.Caesar Ramon Martinez Solis, 41, and Humberto Ivan Amador Gavira, 24, were pulled over in Canon City on March 26 after Fremont County detectives spotted their white Chevrolet van passing without dimming its headlights.
The detectives also noticed the van failing to signal when turning into a gas station and had a defective license plate lamp.
What they discovered during the traffic stop left law enforcement shocked – approximately 150 boxes of .308 ammunition and about 30 boxes of 7.62 ammunition, with each box containing 1,000 rounds.
The sheer volume of ammunition seized is enough to supply a major criminal operation for months.
