The only commissioner not there to listen to the public during public speaking at the Board of County Commissioners meeting today was Shelley Vana. We were looking forward to speaking directly to her but she had another "pressing" meeting. She missed all the public commentary against John Prince Park as a ball field for national corporations. Although most feel the park is off the table for consideration, there is always the possibility of things changing when you're dealing with politicians-- the City of Lake Worth is still pushing for it behind the scenes. Below--a few of today's speakers:
Katie McGiveron
"It seems so obscene to me, so surreal, that a public park would even have been put up for sacrifice by politicians and lobbyists, like the ones in my town of Lake Worth. Someone whispered those magic words "economic development" into their ears, and my mayor and commissioners got so excited that they began to resemble the cast of "Riverdance."
Pam Bergsma
"This is NOT San Francisco Bay. We have now lost our minds."
"This is NOT San Francisco Bay. We have now lost our minds."
Jo-Ann Golden
"$140 million dollar boondoggle. Teams to put up less than 10%...what a crime ecologically and what a gift to special interests. Governments in the surrounding towns seem to be promoting a misguided legacy".
Drew Martin, Sierra Club
"Public land is for public use...no commerce at John Prince Park"

Anonymous, oh cowardly one who just LOVES to name call...I would have posted your comment but you used one of the banned words. Grow up. Take a hike. Do you think we are better served by ?????? whom? These people represented my interests very well today and all those on the side of sanity.
I thought that County Commission already statded JPP was not a consideration!!! Is it or not????
Maybe nobody was there because those 3 (usual suspects) are really the only ones who care or are against it. Hmmm
Common sense and logic would dictate that the John Prince Park site would be off of the table, if it was ever on it. But ,unfortunately, we are dealing with the dim-witted dodos of Lake Worth- Mayor Pam Triolo and Commissioners Maxwell, Amaroso , and Szerdi.
The John Prince Park site is too small, would require too much extra work to prepare and is subject to too many legal restrictions to make it worthwhile for the teams to consider. We really need to get rid of local politicians and phonies who call themselves representatives , like Lori Berman, but are anything but representatives.

Are you really stupid enough and desperate enough to believe the above crap? We can only hope.

Drew Martin is a current elected official
Katie McGiveron is VP of her NA.
Pam Bergsma is president of her NA
Jo-Ann is a former elected commissioner.
We have over 200 on-line signatures and more than that in hard-copy. There are plenty of people all over the County who do not want to ruin a county park. Don't you get out much and know what's going on? Don't you talk to people? Maybe you're a city commissioner? :)
The 45th St. site is on a road with 3 lanes each way and 2 turning lanes at each major intersection. It can handle the traffic.
In addition, both the N and S bound exit ramps have 2 turning lanes.
10th Ave N has only one turning lane Southbound and empties onto the street that Paul Boyer stated many years ago is "over capacity-it shouldn't work", and empties onto Boutwell Road a ONE lane road access to John Prince Park.
45th St is mainly commercial already and lends itself to the placement of a large, busy, and noisy arena.
