Finance Director in Lake Worth to Retire

Comment Up
Steven Carr

Another one of Susan Stanton's top hires will be leaving our city employ, retiring on January 3rd.

Taken out of retirement when he was hired, Mr. Carr turned our finance department around. Since he has been with us, his department has been recognized by the Government Officers Finance Association consisting of 17,500 professionals for excellence in financial reporting for preparing the CAFR--full disclosure and easy communication of our city's financial position for the fourth year in a row.

He took this department to a whole new level in the few years he was with Lake Worth. After he arrived, gone were the days of a finance director's performance being recommended for criminal action to one of excellence in government reporting.  He will be missed, not only for his expertise in government finance and what he accomplished while here in Lake Worth but for being an asset to our city both personally and professionally.

Great guy. Not just smart. Wise. Prudent. And humble. This is a big loss for the commission and the city.

It would be a huge benefit if they could find a finance director with municipal utility experience and get a good handle on those dollars.
