Bed and Breakfast Inns in Lake Worth

Comment Up

Terrific piece in today's Palm Beach Post on two of Lake Worth's bed and breakfast inns--the Sabal Palm and Mango Inn.

Both these inns are two story buildings adjacent to our Intracoastal Waterway and are an important part of what makes our small town charm so precious. Ironically, one of the owners is advocating for 6 story buildings in Lake Worth that would affect his area.

Actually, the Mango Inn is not on the Intracoastal and the SPH looks across the golf course to the Intracoastal from the second floor of the eastern building.
I will let John speak for himself, but I believe a more accurate description of his position on height includes compatability that works for or enhances the immediate area.

Thanks, Coleen. Adjacent meaning "nearby."

Why is it ironic that one of the owners is for 65 foot buildings in that area? They are business owners and understand an increase in tourists will result in more volume for their business.
I guess that makes them greedy business owners.
What business do you own in that area that would justify you questioning someone that does own a business in that area?

Rinaldi is not stupid.
He knows that the overflow from the Gulf Stream Hotel or an alternative for people who have stayed at the Gulf Stream and who want to return to Lake Worth---these are benefits to the SPH if the GSH reopens.

I don't need justification to question anything. Do you own a business down there too? The size of our city affects all of the people, not just some. Thanks for asking.

Would that also make his property more valuable?

Thank you Lynn for posting the story. Colleen and I just got the time to see it and have not posted a comment until now. (Not sure why you thanked Colleen.)

I fully support the rights of folks to vote on height restrictions and I have not advocated my opinions as I am waiting on a full understanding of all the laws before I make up my mind. Our property would be in an area that would allow 65' height but we are too small under the current guidelines and laws for such a building to be built here. That does not mean that someone could come in and buy the block and ask permission to build a complex. I don't see that happening any time soon. So we are just happy running our small business and promoting our great city.

LW should be able to offer both options - the B&Bs are wonderful and charming and thank goodness we have them. But some people prefer a true hotel to a B&B. If LW can offer both, it would be the best of all worlds for our tourism.
